Why are we ranked? Is there a purpose? I read past posts about it but it never explains why, just asks if people think it's a good idear.

There was a lengthy discussion of ranks before the hackers wiped out the original board. It was voted upon and people decided to have ranks. There used to be a chart that was wiped out that showed the posts for each category.

I've been on here for 3 years and just made "Old Crow" with 300 posts - woo hoo! Then there are special ranks for a few peeps like Libby, Rodge, KG, etc for their contributions to the board. Thanks to all of them. On some boards, people just post to get their ranks up, even if it's just a blank post. I don't see much of that around here - thank goodness!

Yeah, for awhile I didn't know why Lil' Birdie was under my avatar but I poked around old threads and found out it was a rank. I understand what the ranks are and how they work......but WHAT purpose does it serve? Just to give yourself and others an idea of how much you post?

Good question penelope. I was wondering that too cause on other forums I'm a member of you can give yourself your own description or nickname or whatever under your avatar. That's cool though, nice to see it broke down for us newbs.

what rodge doesn't want you to know is that all the "Old Crow"s on the board get a key to the executive washroom and day spa. It's good to be important Cool

I am a 4x4 geek and on one of those sights people post "nice" or "cool" and especially "ROTFLMAO!", and I think they do it just to get their count up! It's refreshing to see no trace of that here, and when people do offer words of encouragement it seems sincere.

Bummer! Mad I thought after 200 posts I got Old Crow rank. Only to find out it's 300. This upsets me, Tear It Down has got to be one of my least favorite songs (but no OC song is truly a bad one). Guess I'll be posting up a storm to get my rank up....just kidding!

After I leave work at 7 am, I start my very first, real vacation as an adult. Well, not a real vacation...I'm not goin' anywhere (gas!!), just a whole lot of sittin' around and watchin' daytime TV while all you suckers are at work. Laughing Well, I still have a final on Friday so I'll be wasting my first two days studying. But really, I've never had more than a long weekend off since 17 or so. Last vacay was House on the Rock in Wisconsin. (Totally awesome--best way to describe it? It's the most shit you'll ever see in one place...what kind of shit, you ask? Name something, anything...there's probably at least two there.)

I'm extremely cheap so I don't pay for wireless service and only get online when I'm at work (free wireless, yay!) so ya'll get a break from me for eight whole days!
