Can one of you who already have the album(s) post the lyrics to "Same Thing, Different Religion" and "Pallet on Your Floor"?

I simply can't wait until I receive me own copy....I love reading the lyrics.

I just got two KItchen Syncopators albums and Gill's first album via the Kitchen Syncopators website. Great stuff. Rough and ready and full of sass. Just the way I like 'em Very Happy

Those two songs are on Tijuana Zebra which I got so I will get those lyrics up when I have time, Mountain Plucked. Feel free to post first if you get em done Wink

Thanks for the nudge, Rodge Cool

I've finally checked out the Kitchen Syncopators after really liking Lawless Soirez and meaning to check out the band for ages.

I really like what I've heard so far, very bluesy and some of it reminds me a bit of Tom Waits. I also love the fact that the album covers all look like Document Records (love that label).

So I've ordered a couple of their cds and can't wait to find out what "Pallet on your floor" and "Statesboro Blues" sound like - two of my fave songs.

it's seriously like listening to 6 WaWas or Eutaws... no joke. Gil is the real deal! If you are fein'n for some old time and TN Pusher ain't doing the trick, buy all those Kitchen Syncopators albums up... you'll be glad you did!

Reminds me of the Morrissey lyric "the sun shines out of our behinds".
Morrissey's an Irish name, right?
I sense precedent.

aye, could do with some of that over here... Laughing

pusher's very much doing the trick, but it's always good to have more than on record vying for a spin Smile

...and I've just noticed they're doing dying crapshooter's blues too! awesome!

Yep! it says 2006 on my copy and the fiddler is Annie Ford. Special thanks to The Old Crows amongst others.

It is a great album though. One of my favourites.

Hmm... I wonder if it is the same Annie Ford that's busking up here in Seattle in the summer, cant see why it wouldn't be. See them all the time, pretty good little band they got. "slimpickenz"

Pretty ironic, I just checked out this woman's band on the internet after I had saw them busking downtown at Pike Place Market... low and behold, she is connected (although remotely) with the crows.

That is definitely the same Annie Ford... I saw Gill solo last winter and she was the fiddler.

By the way, for those of you who have picked up the Syncopators stuff and liked it, you might like Woody Pines... one of the original Syncopators who has appeared at least once with the Crows at the Ryman. And if you live in or near Portland, OR, or are passing through see if you can catch Oz. St. Fossils. Or you could just check both of them out on myspace...

Slim Nelson from Slimpickins was a Syncopator too... I knew those boys were talented the first time I saw them on the street!

Wow Annie Ford sounds pretty good. Especially like that Railroading and Gambling tune.

So, for about a year I have had The Be Good Tanyas video for The Littlest Birds posted on my myspace page. I haven't looked at it in a long while, til today, and the video is very blurry; you can't make out much of anything. So, I looked on youtube for a different one, and who was at the end of the video kick'n it, but Gill? I've seen it a hundred times, but never grasped that it was him....

Well spotted. I've always liked that video, too.

I wonder who the other band is, the buskers.

I forgot to mention this last night...I'm fairly sure that the lady is Lissa Driscoll, the one Gill has mentioned several times in writings, CD liner notes, etc. One writing that comes to mind is (I think) one of his myspace blog entries. It was very entertaining as I recall. Wink
Oh, I wonder if that fella with the long beard is Baby Gramps. I've seen a picture of him before, but I don't quite remember if that could be him or not. Anyway....goodnite all.

Here's an article I came across. There are a couple of lines from Gill at the bottom. I'm pretty sure this hasn't been posted before, but I could be wrong. Either way here ya go:
