I purchased Tennessee Pusher at local music store called Plan9. However, two of my friends illegally downloaded it. I yelled at them for this. One of them told me that bands dont get money from CD's sold at stores I guess like Bestbuy, Plan9, (or other local music stores). He said this trying to justify illegally downloading it. He said that infact some bands endorce it. |

Wow -- with friends like that, the Old Crows should be able to retire into the lap of luxury any day now... I'm almost certain that NO artist would actually endorse this kind of activity. It is most CERTAINLY NOT endorsed around here. While I don't tend to buy albums at major stores, the independent Plan 9 is definately somewhere that I buy music. For OCMS, tell your friends to please buy a copy of the album through their merchandising on their website or at a show. They'll get their album quickly as possible and probably a free sticker, too. It puts money directly into the pockets of some of this forum's favorite people. |

I think it's better to download an album and go to a show than doing nothing at all. |

If it isn't worth 10-12 bucks to you, why bother?
Bands either get paid or repay the loans given for the production with EVERY sale.
There are a lot of people involved in getting music to you, they deserve to be paid.

That was part of his theory. That people will download music more and then go to the bands concerts. I don't recall the name of the band that endorsed illegal DLing. |

Metallica... they sue over illegal downloading. Megadeth is all for it because it gets them more fans but they think it would be nice if you bought merch and CDs if you wanted too. |

I'm awfully tempted to illegally download some Tennessee Pusher, because I just bought it but I can't listen to it on my weird old MP3 player!
I'm not saying I haven't done the shameful deed, but I ALWAYS buy albums as well.
How could I go without that delicious excitement that occured when my mother triumphantly returned from Borders with my copy of TP? And the two classes I had to go through with it in my backpack whispering to me?
Other people have said it, I feel the same way, I want the REAL album in my hands. |
