... who has moved to the chilly north! Never fear, you can take the girl out of Kentucky but you can't take the Kentucky out of the girl. Hence my love for OCMS and the good down-home roots music that I grew up hearing.
My name is Mary-Kathleen, or MK, whichever you prefer. I actually made my first post in the live section as I attended the Milwaukee show last night (and was it ever amazing). I am a huge music fanatic - it is my very lifeblood. I teach for a living; right now I am working with 10-18 month olds at a daycare in Wauwatosa. Previously I worked for 2 years at Lutheran Social Services primarily with children who had special needs. I love what I do, and I love music! It doesn't take much more than that to keep me happy.
I hope to get to know a lot of you guys here, and if anyone in the Milwaukee/Chicago area ever wants a concert buddy feel free to contact me! |

It is great to have another Milwaukee girl in the house... even if you are from Kentucky! Trust me, Milwaukee will get into your blood too. I'm living id DC now, but I return to MKE regularly. Maybe we can catch a show together sometime I'm there. If you haven't discovered them yet you should look into Highlonesome, .357 String Band and The Scarring Party... three great MKE bands. |

Apologies for taking so long to get back to everyone! It's been a wild week - got the malaise of the season + life issues... doesn't leave much time for forum fun! Anyway, belated it may be - a sincere thank you to everyone who responded to my introduction and took the time to say hi! I look forward to chatting here often and maybe even seeing some of you at shows!
And don't worry, those of you who "hijacked" the thread. I am not easily offended. I'm a good southern belle for the most part but I know how to get rowdy every now and then, haha!

I actually saw The Scarring Party live at Summerfest this year - they were opening for Polyphonic Spree. What interesting music! I loved the effect the singer had on his mic, and the endtimey stuff was definitely a genre I was not expecting to hear that night, haha. I'll check out the other two, and thanks for the suggestions. I'm up for concert buddies anytime!
Also, 'lippy - nice to psuedo meet you here on the internets. It was indeed an amazing show we witnessed... lucky us!
Off to traipse around the rest of the board now... wee.... |
