First heard of the boys when a band covered Wagon Wheel at friends' of a friend's wedding. The 3 piece string band called themselves "Fried Okra" out on Ocracoke Island (get it? fried...okra...? cracked my a** up). Finally rediscovered the song a few years later in my good buddy's CD player. Good ole' Shane. I miss you!
NEVER been to a show. Really seems a shame. Caught a lot of performances: Opry, Prairie Home etc...
Big fan of the Critter...fave tune's gotta be "Take 'em Away."
Traveling around for a while here. Any suggestions out Arizona/New Mexico way? Next stop Taos. See y'all there! |

I sure don't want to get deleted. Somehow I ended up as the first member of the forum way back when......I know Libby was before me as the founding Queen Crow....anyway, I've been following Old Crow since I first saw them in Richmond, VA in Feb 2002. I lost count of all the shows I've seen since then but will try to make at least 2-3 per year. Occasionally, I've been know to take a multi city road trip to catch a few shows........If you haven't seen them with the Felice Brothers try to catch them together. They have a great time together and put on one of the best shows. I'll try to post more. Rog, please don't delete me!! ) |

Hey there -
Name's Nikki, got turned on to OCMS by my son about a year ago and since then they have really become a family affair!! My mother's b-day this year was a special one. Tickets to the Louisville show for her, myself and my husband. What an experience!! Since then I have been hooked and hubby,Chuck, has really gotten wrapped up. He is a guitar player of 20yrs and has mostly played rock until about 3-4 yrs ago he went blues and country now he is learning every Old Crow song he can!! We have been turning on our friends to them too and they really can't believe how these guys just grab ahold of you and don't let go!!
So I have a question- at that L-ville show they played a couple songs that were what I thought to be Neil Young songs - or at least songs Young had done. Can anyone help me that might have been at that show on 8/12/09? Curiousity is killing me - and mom!! |

Nikki -- Referring to the Old Crows' setlist from Louisville's Big Surprise show, I don't see any Neil Young songs...
Hard to Love
Downhome Girl
CC Rider
Raise a Ruckus
High Test
Caroline
Crazy Eyes
Hard to Tell
Minglewood
Methamphetamine
Marys Kitchen
Wagon Wheel
Long Way to the Top
Tell it to Me
I guess Crazy Eyes and Meth kinda have a Neil Young-esqueness about them. Long Way to the Top is an AC/DC cover. The only Neil Young song they've been doing lately is Are You Ready For The Country... Last year they did Sail Away, and in the past they've done Welfare Mothers, Four Strong Winds (that one is not really Neil's though) and Powderfinger. There may be another one in there that ain't coming to mind right now. Reminds me that I was gonna start working on that updated song list. |

Hmmmmmm... Yes, sir -- the DRM did do Cortez The Killer. Both times we saw it were without any OCMS guests, though. |

Greenhorn here. I got introduced to the band about a year ago and attended my first OCMS concert in February in Winston Salem, NC with the Felice Brothers. I grew up just outside Johnson City, Tn and after looking at all the past concert dates that the band had at Down Home in JC and at Jack in the Wood in Asheville, I'm pissed that I wasn't introduced alto sooner.
I've now got everything except for Wawa, so if anyone knows where a copy is, I'd be obliged.
Thanks. |

I think it shows up on eBay every blue moon. And there's always talk that the boys are going to release it again. Someone said Christmas, didn't they? (Well, maybe that was last Christmas...) |
