Whats up man? Glad to have you on board. I lived in the Tri-Cities for 20 years so I know all about Erwin. Boy, those troopers love snag'n dudes coming down the mountain from Asheville, don't they?! They got me twice! They don't mess around... they'll hang ye just like that crazy elephant!

When's the last time you got a Burrito at the Erwin Burrito Co.? It still open?

I saw where you commented on me listening to the Everybodyfeilds. Are you going to those 2 show at the Down Home Dec 1st & 2nd?

I ain't gonna make it. I'm seeing Hackensaw Boys in Knoxville that weekend. And would have just left Johnson City from being there the week before for Thanksgiving. I'm pumped to go home!

I can't believe you've been listening to them for 5 years and your first time seeing them was last month. They used to play all around our neck of the woods! haha. Aw well, ain't no time like the present, right?

Welcome to the Board, my brotha!

It is not far. I love it up there. Strangely, I haven't been up there since I moved here. I need to get up there soon.

I was gonna ask you if there were any hidden gems as far as good eating in Erwin. Been by the erwin burrito, never stopped in.I've eaten at the River's Edge (think that's the name) a couple of times but that's all I know about.Me & my wife like to loafer around on the weekend and eat somewhere different that isn't a damn chain. Stumbled across a kick ass steak & barbecue place in Dandridge a couple weeks back while we were passing through and saw that the town was blocked off for a Scot-Irish festival. We also regularly run over to Hot Springs, it's just 20 min from the house since we're just over the hill in Houston Valley. Quite a few good restaurants there & you gotta love the pub. The Shack down in Del Rio has kick ass food and pickin every sat night, you can't get a seat after 7:00 though cause it's always packed.

Thanks rlove, I'll give it a try sometime. The cock fighting scene has been pretty dead down there every since the TBI & DEA with their choppers in the air raided the two main fighting pits about a year & half ago. They shut that down along with a big prostitution & gambling ring. The sheriff had to resign and all of the law enforcement is still be investigated. I know, I stole that line above from Steve Earl but that's how it went down.

Had Pal's for lunch at work tonight. A big chicken, hot dog and sweet tea. Pal's sweet tea will never let you down,

now i'm hungry jim!

i personally love the burger and frenchie fries and a choc/pb milkshake (but you can only get that milkshake at the downtown k-port location, far as i know).

i wish pal would extend the franchise, but we've been told he won't move it any further down i-40 than it already is :( ah well, i guess it's good for my waistline!

Don't think it was pal's, but there's a fast-food joint in Johnson City, TN that I stopped at one time on the way to Asheville that had a GREAT chicken sandwich --- anyone from that area care to take a stab at what it was? I have never seen this chain anywhere else.

guessing y'all have chicfila so that can't be it.

pal's does have a chicken sammich but i've never had it (it is sliced chicken, not fried)...

the pal's drive through has a giant french fry/hotdog/burger on it, so i'm guessing if you've been there you'd remember it! Razz

i love how the fat guy's welcome thread got turned into the food thread Shocked Very Happy anyways, i'm think it would bout have to be pals. most other things johnson city has everywhere else does. unless you went to the cottage or terry's apex, but those are a bit off the interstate.
