Excerpt: Rawlings says Oberst also suggested the "A Friend of a Friend" title for the project. "I thought it was nice and appropriate," Rawlings notes, "because so many people I've worked with over the years and played music with are represented in one way or another on the record." Rawlings plans to tour to support the album, with Southeast and Midwest dates in late November and December and a West Coast run in 2010. The Machine lineup will feature Welch and three members of Old Crow Medicine Show -- fiddler Ketch Secor, who co-wrote the track "I Hear Them All," guitarist Willie Watson and bassist Morgan Jahnig. |

Just got home from Hollywood and I'm glad I saw this before leaving home. I got the chance to ask Willie about this and he smiled and asked me where I'd seen it. Then he said "I didn't know that was out yet". Chalk up another one for the data miner. |

December 7 in Madison (WI) at the High Noon Saloon.
Man, this could be a great venue. Looks intimate and really friendly. And I'd have a second chance to see most of Old Crow this winter. |

The High Noon is a GREAT venue. Too this is right in between my thanksgiving and Christmas visits.... and the Crows are in Madison right between my Halloween and Thanksgiving visits. |

I was on the other end of that, Kitty. My wife freakin' LOVES the Welch and just wore my butt out on it. I thought I'd never listen to her on my own. After the Big Suprise shows I changed my tune though, it made a huge difference seeing her live!
The Nashville show was only the second time I saw the wife starstruck, too! We hollered @ Gillian before the show while they were walkin' around and I thought sweetie was gonna pass out or something when she waved and said hi... |

from Grimey's Records newsletter,
"As I hinted last week we have indeed confirmed an in-store set with Dave Rawlings Machine!!! Yes, Gillian Welch will also be here, along with some key members of Old Crow Medicine Show. All this goes down on December 3rd and you'll need to pre-order the Dave Rawlings Machine album, A Friend Of A Friend, to gain admission. The album is out November 17th and we are standing by to take your pre-orders now. Just come in (or call 615.254.4801 with credit card info) to place your order and your name will be on the list! Pick your CD up anytime after Nov. 17 and enjoy this special intimate show on Dec. 3. I'm giddy myself just thinking about it."
they boys don't have any dates during his whole tour do they? Maybe they are joining the whole time? |
