troubles up and down that road
and trials all the way around
never knew just what trouble was
til my darling threw me down

with nothing but ol' ragged clothes
and heartstrings broken to shreds
blues creeping o'er my body
queer notions flyin' round my head

if i ever meet that girl again,
my troubles will all be o'er
i'll steal her out, away from home
take her to some foreign shore

when my worldly trials are over
and my last goodbye i've said
bury me near my darling's doorstep
where the roses are bloomin' free

well my pockets are all empty
like they was some day before
if i ever reach my home again
i'll walk these rail ties no more

well the hardest the thing i ever have done
was loving women, drinking wine
the hardest thing that i ever done
was working out a judge's fine

well the cheapest thing i done
was sleeping out amongst the pines
the hardest thing i ever have done
was keeping pork chops off my mind

well i never work for pleasure
peace on earth i cannot find
only thing that i surely do own
is this worried and a troubled mind

if wine and women don't kill me,
then there's one more plan of mine,
i'll soak up that ol' rubbin' al-key-hol
get these troubles off my mind

so when my worldly trials are over
and my last goodbye i've said
bury me near my darlin's doorstep
where the roses are bloomin' free

so if wine and women don't kill me
well there's one more plan of mine
i will drink that ol' rub al-key-hol
get these troubles all off of my mind

I think this song is amazing and should be played more by the boy's. I know it's a slower tune but this just the way Willie sings it, he has so much heart and passion.

Great Tune, looks like a new one for the band to learn.

I agree. Old Crow does Dock Boggs very nicely.

your progression sounds right, but that sounds a half step flat to me. to me sounds like it should be Ebm/Ebm7/Bb7... etc
