Hello everyone. I'm an old geezer from Chicago that decided to learn how to play guitar about a year ago. We are very fortunate to have a great place to do that called The Old Town School of Folk Music that's simply incredible. One of the most popular songs after a few weeks is Wagon Wheel and I've been hooked ever since. They also have many ensemble clasees, which where you continue your education, but in the context of a particular artist or genre. I'm now in the second week of the OCMS ensemble. Two guitars, two banjos, a bass, and hopefuily a fiddle. Good times.

Happy to be here.

You might have to change your name if you've been playing a year, Ovenmitts!

It's a good name for the first few weeks of learning an instrument though Laughing

Welcome!

hey ovenmitts, I have heard that Old Town school is a great place. A guy on a guitar message board I am on can't say enough good things about that place. If it lead you here it must be good.
He posted this video of the place if you stop it at 22sec and look at the schedule on the chalk board it looks great.

It is indeed a incredible place. A former student there named John Prine Smile played at our annual fundraiser last Sat night for 3 1/2 hours.Unreal. Sweet little 350 person theatre, no seat more than 45' from the stage.

Well, our OC ensemble ended last night after 8 weeks. Our "Graduation" performance is in a bar tonight. Looks like we'll be doing "Fall On My Knees" and "Next Go Round". Signed up again for another 8 weeks starting next week.
