Listen tonight! Last week was much better and back to normal assortment of awesomeness. Might even see if I can get Woody Pines in the booth. It's a long shot but we'll see, I heard he's going to be town. Dont want to impose on Kaz though. Tune in!

I had my final exam Saturday and am feeling pretty confident about it! I should know something official soon. They are supposed to have the schedule ready around May 16th.
All I have left to do is "program" ten albums by listening to see which tracks have cursing, how fast the songs are, if they fade out at the end, etc. And write a small review.
Cadillac Sky is the first one I did and I pretty much ripped'm a new'n. I feel bad but I gotta be honest on em, I reckon.
Shoo, I am excited!!! |

Ah I saw them live at the Music City Roots thing a few weeks ago and wasn't impressed. It felt like I was watching imitations of the Avett Brothers, Old Crow, Mumford &sons, and Fleet Foxes and they were trying to oversell it. Then when I got the cd it said on the label that it's recommended to anyone who likes those exact bands. And they are many notches below all of those. Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys produced it so I was hoping the recorded versions of the songs I heard live had a lil more grit to it. And there's a song on there where the lyrics said "I'm tired of coming home smelly / with half a bottle of jack in my belly." I ain't saying I could do better than them but I definitely know they aren't comparable to those other bands.
... and my radio got stolen friday, so they seemed like a good target to take out some of that angst on. |

this is what I actually wrote, haha
"Think the Monkees meet a Very Poor Man’s Avett Brothers that has a buddy that just heard the Fleet Foxes for the first time and you have, Cadillac Sky. With lyrics like “I’m tired of coming home smelly, with a half bottle of Jack in my belly,” I find myself getting hot flashes of embarrassment. Even The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach as producer couldn‘t give these guys the rawness and grit they are desperately trying to imitate."

yea, Karma's gonna come back and get me on that one, thats for sure. I might be posting some recordings of me and my friends fooling around sometime soon. I'm gonna duck and run, ifn I do. Haha
I mean, if I had a Pokey LaFarge cd to program I'd be giving him the highest marks. That dude is the real deal and played right before them and tore it up. Tough act to follow |

I've had a hard time giving these guys much of a listen ever since seeing David playing bass for his sis Jessica when she opened for the Avetts in Asheville @ the Orange Peel year before last. Her depressing, monotonous, poor little girl fixin to slit her wrists lyrics were only made worse by him acting batshit with the doghouse bass all night. Falling down & rolling around stage with it, etc. |

Gave it a listen. Yeah, lots of the roots music cliches. Beardy, overearnest, noodly. Needing an infusion of soul. Reminds me a lot of the Avetts. |

cool version
not noodly and is even a little soulful!

I officially passed my test at WRVU!!! The Delicious Elixir Radio Hour with DJ Rodge starts in a few short weeks!!!! Be on the look out!
sidenote: Old dude from Cadillac Sky was on stage with the at Merlefest rocking out on a song or two... teaching Scott everything he knows much like how Tina Turner did Mick Jagger, it was amazing. |

well, the craziest answer I've ever had to put on a test was from that test and the answer was:
Sh*t
P*ss
F*ck
C*nt
C*cksucker
Motherf*cker
T*ts
