i was out in the garden just now and also remembered that you play by ear so maybe a tab won't help much, but i suspect knowing what tuning people use will help a lot.
you'll get it
i don't know about this fast tho ....

Thanks for that!
See, THAT'S how I wanted to play it! The notes were never the problem, it was the pace and the number of strings you needed to bow at once!
I'm inspired to maybe pick up my fiddle again - more than 3 years since I last tried :( |

you mean there are two commonly used tunings for this tune?
hang on then - that's only three strings
EDIT - or do you mean those are the chords?
EDIT2 now i get it - it's a two chord tune, G and C - or - A and D - sorry perhaps a little more detail next time |

Katie, as i understand it, it means that when you look at the fiddle straight on (pegs at the top) the left hand string is tuned A, the next is tuned E, the next is tuned A an octave up and the right hand string is tuned to the next E
very handy if you want to play a run and then play it again an octave higher
that's what i meant by 'knowing the tuning might help a lot' - some tunes get played with the strings tuned a particular way to make it easier or to get a particular sound |

I had a feeling that's what it meant, but thought I better ask! You're right, that makes a heap of difference!
I was taught classical violin by someone who a) wasn't interested in folk and b) couldn't play by ear. I wasn't interested in learning to read music or playing classical - it was not a meeting of minds!!!! |

Sorry Stu - you got it.

Yeah - capo'd on two for the guitar playing that G and C shape. |
