I tried to order this, but the connection to the shopping cart isn't secure... maybe they will have it at the shows next weekend. |

Cool Deen! It's a pretty boring place, usually go to Chattanooga if I wanna have any fun.
I've listened to Kevin's CD a few times now and I'm really liking it! |

I wonder if Kevin ever listened to the Dead Milkmen. Listening to this cd in t he car today made me wish I had one of my Dead Milkmen discs with me... especially Yo Nice Hat and Pictures in the Fire. The later being my favorite track on the cd. |

I listened to it several times on the way home from Roanoke Rapids and at least once through on the drive to Chapel Hill. I like it a lot from track 5 on through.
Since one tends to describe music by something that's come before, I got a Lou Reed/Syd Barrett/Violent Femmes vibe from several tracks. Apparently I'm not supposed to mention the obvious, but you'll know what I'm talking about. Having worn those shoes already, I identified with the feeling of those tunes. Mended Her Heart fits that bill. I liked the old ballad feel of Weston Shore. It's the "oldest" sounding thing on there. Pictures In The Fire is kinda awesome. Reach The Top is a good'n. It's kinda "soundtracky" as jkorp put it. I agree. It belongs in a film. At least maybe part of it. We'll Meet Again and Great Is The Path also hit me as highly likeable tunes. Even the ridiculousness of Yo Nice Hat or Loosen Up will grow on you - thems some tight licks in there.
In summary - get it. Don't expect old-time or anything remotely OCMS - just expect a different kind of fun.
Thanks, Kevin! |

I was told Sat night from Mr Kevin Paul Hayes himself that this is not old crow music. Its all elecric and a lil different. I had the chance to talk to him quiet extensively before the show. He told me he had watch the movie Grapes of Wrath the night before he wrote great is the path. Said I watched it went to sleep and woke up and condensed the whole movie into a song less than 4 mins. I have ordered my copy and as of Sat it hasn't come in the mail. I really like Kevin's songs with OCMS. I have to say they are my favorites. So I'm super excited bout hearing this albulm. Thanks for he review. |
