Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise
We’ll all be rockin’ on the riverside
C’mon, Katie, shake them trees
Stick in your toes, wiggle your knees
Meet me on the water by the highway bridge
T-shirts swingin' from a white oak limb
Lord, do me like a divin’ duck
Straight to the bottom of a whiskey jug
Ooh, baby, oohwee
I know a place we could do as we please
It’s only half a mile as the old crow flies
Good Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise
Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise
We’ll all be rocking on the riverside
C’mon, Katie, shake them trees
Stick in your toes, and wiggle your knees
It’s only half a mile as the old crow flies
Good Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise
Oh, jack-knife Katie, strut your stuff
Swan-dive down from a Tennessee bluff
Come on in the water, tickle and squeeze
Mr. Copperhead has got nothin’ on me
Lord willin’, and the creek don’t rise
We’ll all be havin’ a party tonight
C’mon, Katie, it ain’t no sin
Peel off your party dress, dive on in
It’s only half a mile as the old crow flies
Good Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise
Jack-knife Katie, everybody’s high
There ain’t no way to keep your powder dry
Sing like a coach trip, rattle and shake
Heaven help us if the levees break
Lord, do me like a divin’ duck
Straight to the bottom of a whiskey jug
C’mon, Katie, it ain’t no sin
Peel off your party dress, dive on in
It’s only half a mile as the old crow flies
Good Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise
Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise
We’ll all be rockin’ on the riverside
C’mon, Katie, shake them trees
Stick in your toes, and wiggle your knees
It’s only half a mile as the old crow flies
Good Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise
We'll have a little party tonight
Good Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise
Good Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise |

Alright, I updated the lyrics. That's about as far as I can take them, using this video.
Maybe someone else can help with the spots that I'm not sure on. |

- did you know the hands in the second vid held the camera for the first vid
the first 3 verses sound right to me
then
Oh, jack-knife Katie, strut your stuff
Swan-dive down from a Tennessee bluff
C'mon in the water, tickle and squeeze
Mr. Copperhead has got nothin’ on me
ther's a "c'mon Katie, sink or swim" in there too somehwere |

With those lyrics it's no wonder Katie was getting down. |

Thanks for the help, GumboStu.
A big mystery remains - what's she singing like? |

I think Stu is correct with "coach trip". There's a fair amount of rattling and shaking to be done in a steel-springed conveyance. I don't think it's coach whip.
I also believe that one starts "jack knife" as well.

not really - but anywhere you have oak and beech trees and ground squirrels here in the south, you will have a plenty of them about. along the rivers? you bet. |

I'll have to say yes. I see 'em in the water multiple times every year. It may not be the preferred method of conveyance, but it's pretty practical. Occasionally I get fooled by the common Northern Banded watersnake, they are pretty similar in looks. I prefer not to get too close to a swimming snake in my canoe... |
