About this projectCarolina Still needs your help in bringing to life our first full-length album since 2005. We have been working hard—writing & recording some of the best material we’ve ever done. This time out, we’re aiming to have our music professionally manufactured by a great company out of Fairfax, VA, called Furnace Manufacturing. They’ll be handling all of the replication & packaging for the CDs. Also, Furnace will be pressing a limited quantity of 12" vinyl LPs. This will be the first time any of our music will be available on vinyl—the format on which this style of music really should be heard. So, we’re asking you be a part of something very special for the band.

In the midst of today’s country music, with its flashy artists singing catchy pop songs barely even resembling country, Carolina Still is gonna bring you back to the origins: the front porch. When fellow pickers gathered to play and sing about their own hardships in life, they played not for the fame or the money but for the sheer enjoyment of creating something real. Along the way, they entertained their family and friends, and for a short time, took them away from their troubles through the magic of song and dance.

Carolina Still hopes to revive and honor this tradition with their latest project: Distiller, a ten- song album featuring seven original tunes alongside three traditionals. The title track "Distiller" is the story of a man whose job at a distillery is taken from him, forcing him into the woods to become a moonshiner just to feed his family. "Six Gun Sadie" and "Erastus Clay" are two intertwined songs about a pair of outlaws and their struggle with each other and with the law. "Black Cat in the Briar Patch" is an original fiddle tune with a complex pattern & timing. The story of a prisoner’s remorseful last days is told in the song "That .44 Gun." The song "Far Apart" reveals a couple whose relationship has ended due their occupations, only to find out they share the same job. "Sweet Southern Belle" tells the story of a small town girl who finds it hard to cope with the big city fame she has found.

The traditional material Carolina Still has chosen for this release includes two great fiddle tunes: "Reuben's Train" and "Sandy Boys." The third is the better-known tune "Old Joe Clark.” This album really has something to offer for everyone. So we need everybody’s help to get this project off the ground! Thanks for taking the time to read about Carolina Still and their forthcoming new album Distiller
