Be there with the Mrs. She hooked me up with some row D tickets for my birthday. First show we've been to since the last Georgia Theatre show.

Looks like we'll have to be on point to get a set list. Damn I hate responsibility.

On Thursday night I got a note from my fiance that said, "Pack your bags. You're leaving work early. I already talked to your boss." I had no idea what was going on, except that Saturday was my birthday and apparently there was a big surprise in store. When we showed up at the airport Friday afternoon and were handed boarding passes to Atlanta, I got a little excited.

...

After the Lumineers played their set, which I thought did an outstanding job getting the crowd going, the stage was cleared. There wasn't much left but a few instruments and microphones. The stage looked pretty bare and I started to wonder what the hold up was getting everything ready for the show. Were the boys going to come on late?

There were a lot of people up and moving around during the intermission. When Waylon Jennings started to play on the speakers, nobody really took notice. The stage was still empty and bare, so it didn't seem like the intermission was coming to an end any time soon. I certainly didn't catch on right away. But what I didn't realize was that Waylon wasn't just playing because somebody wanted to hear his voice. Waylon was singing because this is who OCMS is.

The boys walked up to the stage, with no fanfare, picked up their instruments, and started tearin it down. Just like Hank.

...

The rest of the night for me is mostly a blur. Not because of too much shine, but because one song blended into the next as one giant awesome memory. This was my first time seeing OCMS in a couple years, so it was also my first time seeing Ketch with a full lead. He clearly has a vision for this band in mind and he executes it wonderfully on stage. I'm proud to see how he has grown up and found a way to shine in this role, like we always knew he would. His geography skills certainly haven't declined Smile

As the show went on, I could start to see and feel the people around me catching on. The section I was sitting in was clearly a Lumineers-first crowd, but by the end of the night, they were diehard OCMS fans too. The end of each song was met with awe and amazement from the people around me. A couple times an old man jumped up to dance to some of the fiddle tunes before his wife pulled him back into his seat. "Cmon honey, I just can't help it!" he told her.

...

Except for a few mic mishaps during Methamphetamine (which pierced the ears), this show was fantastic in a unique way. Fantastic because I never knew I was going, because the Fox is a beautiful venue, and because it was the last show of the tour. It wasn't quite like the old days I remember of tearin it down at the Norva, dancin the night away, but it was special like seeing a rare bird in the wild is special. There just isn't anything else like this.

No set list, but I think it was the exact same as the Knoxville show and others before that.

The Milk Carton Kids started it off in a chill manor, with a stand up routine for good measure.

I hate to say it, but the Lumineers were the highlight of the night for me. Maybe because I'd never seen them before (or even heard their music until a couple of weeks ago). They definitely put on a good live show. And, I just bought their CD. I will definitely seek them out again.

The Old Crows definitely did some good work. Hearing most of the new songs live was definitely a treat. I think the best part of the Old Crow set was the encore when the whole stage was full. Being in the pit made the show feel much smaller than it was. It was crazy to look back and see all of the people there. I still remember them playing Smith's Old Bar with 50 people and you could hear every beer bottle when it hit the trash can. Another highlight was the baby onesie from the merch stand. And, the dude asked me about my Crowcaine shirt.

I agree about the Lumineers. They were pretty amazing. I wasn't feeling Critter singing Tobacco at all...however, they freaking murdered Meth.

Don't know, Meth was to me AWESOME! There was alot of feedback and revibe-echo.... So it was like you were high listening to music. I actually loved the screetching and the trying to be diffrent sound. It is a sone about Meth...

Yeah, I meant murdered in a good way. It was pretty sick. Really liked how much Morgan was featured too.

Best Morgan show I've even seen - he really dropped the deep end and showed out; what a treat.

Lumineers are coming back to the ATL soon. 10/19 at the Masquerade - I haven't been there in a decade!
