The Hog Slop String Band is a Nashville based old time string band comprised of seven energetic young musicians hailing from Georgia, Tennessee, California and North Carolina. Featuring Casy Meikle and Kevin Martin on fiddles, Graham Sherrill on banjo, Gabe Zorbanos on guitar, Robert Hardy (RH) Dyar Jr. on mandolin, Daniel Allen Frazier Jr. on washboard and Casey McBride on the washtub bass, these boys surely raise a ruckus.
Upon forming as a pickup square dance band in the summer of 2009, The Hog Slop String Band has since become one of the most sought after old time string bands of the Tennessee Valley area. Known for their outrageous facial hair and a rollicking repertoire heavily based on Georgia and Middle Tennessee fiddle tunes, these boys have provided entertainment for fashion shows, political conventions and whiskey distilleries as well as countless weddings, parties and soirees.
Following in the footsteps of such country music luminaries as Uncle Dave Macon and Gid Tanner, they put on a high energy show easily appreciated by both young and old alike. Despite an unkempt appearance, their undeniable charm is as certain to steal your heart as it will your daughters!

These guys are great.... saw them at a local brewery and even with it being like 100 degrees inside (no a/c) they still got a huge group square dancing! Would love for them to come back around these parts again.... |

Pretty Funny Article.
----------------------------
Free the Hogslop Four!
Spare a moment of sympathy for the Hogslops. Members of the Leipers Fork, Tennessee-based old-time music band intended to make their way to London to support Jeff Garner at his Prophetik show, and maybe raise a little hell in the process (last Facebook status update before departure: “The hogslop string band is in route to London! Hide your daughters!”).
Instead, two-thirds of the band was turned back at Gatwick, their lack of customs-compliant papers for visiting musicians to blame. Then again, “We don’t travel without the beards… that could be part of the reason the guys didn’t get through,” said the magnificently bewhiskered guitarist Gabriel “Zeus” Kelley.
So Gabriel and banjo player Graham “Pawpaw” Sherrill made it, while Robert “Roadhog” Hardy Dyer Jr. (mandolin), Casey “Pickle” McBride (washtub), Casy “Moose” Meikle (fiddle), Kevin “K-Mart” Martin (second fiddle), are languishing back at home in Tennessee. Adding insult to deportation, this was to be the first foray outside the US for most of the band.
“We all tried to come and play and have a good time, and I guess they thought we were criminals,” Kelley said.
Thanks to Gabriel’s resourceful music-world networking—or could it be the spiritual influence of the band’s two ordained reverends?—Kelley found a third musician for today’s gig. So how will these earnest, thoughtful, stranded Hogslops spend the rest of their time in London?
“Getting really dirty, and just enjoying ourselves, enjoying good English beer,” says Gabriel.
We’ll play a fiddle to that.
Hear ALL of the Hogslops play… click here. |

There will be plenty of great tunes, good times, and some square dancin'. So snatch up... that pretty gal of yours or that good lookin fella and get on down to Roberts Thursday Night.
Bring everyone you know. This is going to be a great time!
Also listen up Thursday afternoon at 2pm to The Old Time Hour with Ketch Secor on WSM 650 AM for some tunes and a little chat with the Hogslop String Band and the Westbound Rangers.
Featuring: The Hogslop String Band, The Westbound Rangers, and some other special guests.
Both bands have been on my radio show a year ago. They both get my stamp of approval. Some good fellers. |

The Square Dance was a success. There wasn't enough room to dance until almost 1:00 am because it was so packed in there. Cory got on stage and played a song or two with em.

Also present will be the Old Time Photo Booth to offer complimentary memento-photos, as will be a variety of other local vendors peddling services and hocking wares such as vintage cloths and hand-crafted goods. We’re working on a few other surprises as well, so stay tuned for more details and help us spread the word! This’ll surely be a barn-burner not to be missed!
