Down front on the floor. Standing. If you're sat in the balcony shout me and I'll wave. Cool

Well I had a few drinks and my pencil broke so I gave up on the setlist! Luckily one of the stage hands passed me a printed one up after the gig so (it says here):

UK Tour Setlist

Carry Me Back
High Test
Take Em Away
Caroline
Bootleggers
Whiteface
Mississippi
Mary
Humdinger
Wheeling/Ruckus
CC Rider
James River Blues
Foggy Dew
<---- Brave Boys (hand written)
I hear Them All
Ain't It Enough
Wheel
Cocaine Habit

encore
Hard To Love
Flookie
Dirty Ol' Town

short story is I had a great time. They rocked the place and were muchly appreciated. I got to shake Critter's hand and had a nice chat with Gil who was wandering around during the support. Special shout out to the CC Smugglers who were busking outside and are planning to do so at each concert on the tour! Despite having to get a finger sown back on in Belfast today!

Nice. Are Whiteface and Dirty Ol' Town covers?
I'm assuming the guy with the sown-on finger was not the guitarist? Impressive nonetheless. That's commitment.

I for one will be waiting on the more detailed review that will answer the lost finger question!

The guy with the sewn on finger IS the guitarist. He cut a big vein changing a broken string! I saw them play at a pub last week - they're really rather good Smile

And Dirty Old Town must be the Ewan McColl song. Great version of it here by the infamous Pogues

Sad to say (embarrassed even) I don't remember Whiteface at all (missyjay? anyhelp? did you go to Belfast tonight?) but Dirty Old Town is a British Folk Standard written by Ewan McColl (Kirsty's Dad) and well covered by The Pogues in modern times.

The finger belongs to the singer of CC Smugglers, who were busking outside the venue, and have scored themselves guest list status for tonight's gig Smile I assume it was his guitar. I certainly hope so!!!! more details on their FB page (and photos). either way they were still playing and whooping it up in fine style and have an invite to come visit.

I also don't remember much about Brave Boys. When the Crows played Belfast a couple of years ago they put some effort into playing a couple of Irish songs but I don't recognise these titles. Of course it could be Trees all over again!

In some ways i went to this gig nervous about missing Willie's energy, voice and guitar, but went in thinking 'Old Crow are dead, Long Live Old Crow' and had a fabulous time. A different band for sure but still kicking it.

I note that Whiteface was also on the printed setlist following Bootleggers for the NYE show .... does that jog any memories - Thanks to Crowtide and Bopanic for getting that setlist posted btw!
EDIT And Brave Boys is on that setlist, too, in the encore - are they tunes rather than songs?

Oops sorry for jumping in there! It's so funny - I only came across CC Smugglers last week when they were supporting a band called Franky and the Jacks, but I just keep on coming across them ever since!

They certainly get about. They were saying the fiddle player has only been playing six months and he has lots of tunes nailed. Watch those kids! Cool

Sounds fab Stu! Glad you had a good time!!

Sorry, I'm not much use with Whiteface....I wasn't at Belfast yesterday, but I'm going to the Glasgow show tonight. Only one show this time around I'm afraid Sad I'll try and listen out for Whiteface though.

I'm usually rubbish at remembering the setlist, and there are usually taller folk who'll get the actual ones from the stage hands, but I'll see what I can do this time. At least I got yours for reference. Sooo excited!

How did you think Chance fitted in Stu?

I've come across those Smugglers too. Sounds like a fun idea busking along outside. Poor guy though, injuring his finger. Hope he'll be ok.

I'll report back from Glasgow Very Happy

missyjay I'm guessing by the similarity to the NYE set and the fact that this printed sheet says UK Tour Setlist that you'll be getting something very close. Print a copy off and you can shout requests all night long and they'll have to play 'em for you Wink

Chance fitted in so well i hardly noticed him. Nice picking, solid harmonies.
They had the 3,3 line up so he was out front.

Have fun tonight (I know you will!)
