I have been mulling this over for the past couple of years, and I have now decided I am going to give it a shot.

I'm gonna start my own record label. I may only release one record, but I will have done it when all is said and done. I'm working on figuring out who will be the first artists to release a record for me. I have a list in my head and I have aimed for the top of the list. if they say no thank you, then I go to the next one.

I am also trying to come up with a name for my label, and I keep coming back to Muleskinner Records. I like it, but I'm not 100% tied to it. Anyone want to throw an idea out there? Seems like every name I come up with, someone has alread claimed it.

I think I have it....at least for now.

I'm going with Fat Elvis Records. I considered Knawkville Records, but a moment of inspiration came over me and decided on Fat Elvis.

Still waitign to hear from the artist I have in mind, if it doens't pan out by Saturday, I am moving along to the next one in line. I'll be sure to share the info!

So this thing is a go! I attempted to reach Sam Quinn through mutual friends and such, but it never panned out, so I sent an offer to a band from Nashville called the Blackfoot Gypsies.

They were excited about working with me. THey have a full length vinyl release coming out next month, so they are a little strapped for cash, but once they can get enough money to record and master 2 or 3 songs, they will be release number 1 on Fat Elvis Records. I hope to have it released late this year, or early next year.

Working on a website, stickers, and such. Right now I just have a facebook page for those of you interested in following.

Thanks for all the great replies! I think there will be plenty of records pressed so that everyone that wants one will have one. Some are going to be pressed on red vinyl, others on blue. There will also be 50 limited copies on crazy random colored swirled vinyl. I can't say for sure if I can save copies of those just yet. I am splitting them with the band, and hope to sell these at a premium in order to re-coup some of the money spent on the pressing.

There may also be another very small variant of red and blue mixed that will be even more limited than the random swirl vinyl.

I will be sure to put a link to the pre-sale when they go live. Or better yet, follow me on facebook or twitter so you get the info quicker.

Facebook works. You can also become friends with Matthew Paige and Zack Murphy on FB. They are quite funny.
