(Uncle Dave Macon's "Rock About My Saro Jane")
The boys used to COOK this one back in the day -- guaranteed string-buster!!!
SARAH JANE
Well now I got a wife and five little children
Believe I’ll take a trip on the big MacMillan
Oh, Sarah Jane
Well ain’t nothin’ to do but we sit around and we sing
And we rock about my Sar-o Jane
We rock about my Sar-o Jane
We rock about my Sar-o Jane
Well ain’t nothin’ to do but we sit around and we sing
And we rock about my Sar-o Jane
Well the boiler’s busted, the whistle’s blowed
Lord, head captain fell overboard
Oh, Sarah Jane
Well ain’t nothin’ to do but we sit around and we sing
And we rock about my Sar-o Jane
We rock about my Sar-o Jane
We rock about my Sar-o Jane
Well ain’t nothin’ to do but we sit around and we sing
And we rock about my Sar-o Jane
The engine give a crack and the whistle give a squall
The engineer gone through the hole in the wall
Oh, Sarah Jane
Well ain’t nothin’ to do but we sit around and we sing
And we rock about my Sar-o Jane
We rock about my Sar-o Jane
We rock about my Sar-o Jane
Well ain’t nothin’ to do but we sit around and we sing
And we rock about my Sar-o Jane
And now those Yankees built boats to bust them Rebels
My musket’s loaded, I’m a-gonna hold ‘er level
Oh, Sarah Jane
Well ain’t nothin’ to do but we sit around and we sing
And we rock about my Sar-o Jane
We rock about my Sar-o Jane
We rock about my Sar-o Jane
Well ain’t nothin’ to do but we sit around and we sing
And we rock about my Sar-o Jane |
