The following displays my total lack of knowledge of John Prine: Ohhhhhh, this is the song that Kristin Stewart sings in "Into the Wild."
Had no idea.
And yes, the Old Crow version is damn good. |

Ibrod, it was crazy. After he played he stood at the bar for awhile and then in the middle of a song he got a standing ovation as he walked out the door. He looked almost embarrassed, but very appreciative. It was awesome! |

I love John Prine, thast what my dad played while i was growing up, hes still got all the old vinyl, the real rockabilly shit from johnnys early days. its in my blood. last time i saw JP was amazing, we were 3rd row, me and my pa and our wives, man what a show, at Massey Hall in toronto, and if youve never been there for a show, you should go. great sound. Carrie Rodriguez opened, sexy girl fiddling with all her heart, great shit, she joined in for the 2 duets towards the end, angel from montgomery and in spite of ourselves. great show.
i like the OCMS angel, theres nothing wrong with it to my ears, the harmonies are great, its a solid version. i think if they "made it their own", if they livened it up too much it would lose some of the emotional punch of the song, i dunno, this is my 2nd post and im ruffling feathers already lol, those damn canadians |
