Ya'll need to check out WDVX. It's a great listener supported radio station that plays a wide eclectic mix of bluegrass, old country, folk, and americana without any commercials. Also they have a live broadcast everday during lunch time of local and bigtime stringbands. I bet some of you out there could get a gig on there as well. WDVX is really awesome about supporting unknowns and locals with free airtime.
Something else that is great is they are great about putting on requested songs. I email them all the time and they have my song up within 10 minutes of me sending it. Very cool and downhome DJ's. Ya can't go wrong! Send em an email and tell em ole Roger and Stewart sent ye.

Make a request: studio@wdvx.ntcmail.net
(When OCMS's new album comes out, we need to email and call a bunch of places like this and get the new song up and running) |

Roger is right they will be glad to hear from everybody on the site. And they put your request up there as soon as they can. They did let me know however that they can only play so many songs by the same band per show. So they may only play a band once every few hours but they are always playing great music you have to check it out. Right now they are playing The Earl Brothers this is a band that you have to check out. |

to make request on the website. At the top of the main page click on email us. Once there click on email studio and they will get the request right then and put it on quickly. Try to sneak in as much Crow as you can sometimes they're picky |

Rodge,
I couldn't agree more. WDVX rocks! I discovered them a couple months back and now my time at work is twice as enjoyable now that I can stream them realtime. I dig the Blue Plate specials, too. Good stuff!

Robinella is gonna be the Blue Plate Wed. Feb. 16th at Noon EST. Make sure to check her out... very smooth bluesy bluegrass. Well actually, I think her new album is going more to jazz and funk. Her and her husband's band is very versitle. Checkemout, Sucka! |

I just talked it over with my wife, and we are not going to renew our annual Sirius radio subscription thats coming due, we are going to get software to take calls online and listen to WDVX instead. We will just have to listen to our OCMS CD's when we are in our cars, since I refuse to listen to any Clear Channel Bull Crap FM stations!!
That station kicks a$$, and no commercials! We are going to send what we would have spent on Sirius to support the station. I'm going to Radio Shack to purchase the hardware to hook my PC directly into my Denon Home System. Finally, A really cool radio station!
Best mix of music I've found yet. |

Tommy Emmanuel is on the blueplate right now. He's an awesome Chet Atkins disciple. |

Man! That girl Jill has got a voice! She's got the quintessential country voice! Very honkey tonk!
I prefer the girls voice to the guys. His is OK, a little whiny and he plays up the goofy hippie boy thinga little much. |

yea, I know what you mean. I like his voice alright but I prefer her voice or both of them harmonizing rather than him alone. They really match each other, though. Yea, Sam is a quirky dude. We got in this big conversation about this hootchie momma dance club there in our native Johnson City... so I don't know if he's playing it up, I think thats just him, haha. I'd drive to Knoxville tonight to see/record them and then go chump on my new mandolin with friends if I had a dang car. Ah, I can't complain. Being trapped at home all weekend with a new mandolin isn't a bad deal at all! |
