I wish we woulda had more time in Nashville last month. You guys got a hell of a city, we can't wait to come back. My moufs still waterin over that Jacks BBQ It was so cool every shop we went into there was a total feeling like you were standing on the same spot as someone great in music history. Next trip I will plan better and get out to some more cool places. Any of you reading this, if ya ever drive to Nashville to see a show, be prepared to see much more than a show, awesome place to visit. |

Just found this thread.
You guys are right it is the best venue in Nashville.
But I heard from a reliable source that the Station Inn will not be there much longer. Because of the development down there that property will be sold soon. They are reportedly already looking for a new location.
It is a shame because a love the atmosphere in there.
I am going tomorrow night and I recommend people go. Enjoy it while you can.
The Steeldrivers are playing and Chris Stapleton's (lead singer) vocals will blow you away.

Hopefully that is just a rumor... i really hope so. I remember asking JT himself about a year ago about a similar rumor. He said they are staying for along long time. So I don't know... I wonder where they'd move it if they did? :( |

man im with you, thats got to be a rumor... if they had to move it would loose some of its luster, IMO... the village would be a nice suit for them if they had to move though? |

Rodge,
I know what you mean about it sounding like a rumor.
I got my info from a picker that regularly plays there. They said that it is in the very early stages, but they have started to scout for a new location.
If you think about it, it does make sense. With the value of that property. It will be hard for the property owner not to sell it to developers. |

yea, if they don't own the land they will be gone eventually... they are right in the heart of "the Gulch". Ive only been in town for 3 years and there has been what? 4 high society high rise condos go up? That area is becoming the trendiest part of Nashville. It would be really awesome for them to stay though, to have that contrast... I doubt they'll last very much longer, sadly. But heck, them getting the boot has been the rumor since I've been in town... so who's to say? I do know I need to get back to my once a week visit. Me and some boys I met at church are going up there to pick this Sunday night. |

Yeah, I do know that they don't own the property and that is why they are starting to look for another site.
I have never been to the Sunday night jam. Is it a good time? |

Rodge, did you go Sunday? If so, how was it?
I went to the Station Inn Saturday to see the Steeldrivers. Man their lead singer Chris Stapleton can sing. It is almost unreal to listen to. |

yea, I went. It was as packed as I've ever seen it! It was a good time. Went out there for bout an hour and a half. I saw JT but didn't ask him about the rumor. I was sorta scared to hear the answer.
Yea, if I didn't go the Roller Derby I would have gone to that SteelDrivers show. I've never seen them except for a vid on youtube and the lead singer's voice instantly grabbed my attention. I wish I could have done both... and actually was planning on it. We didnt get out of the derby til 9:30 and my friend at the show had texted me and said it had sold out. I'll catch em next time. |

I might try and get out there next Sunday.
You do need to check out the Steeldrivers if you get a chance. They are listed to play again at the end of April, but they said that has been moved to the first of May sometime.
Your right, Chris can sing and their songs are so well written.
Chris ( lead singer) is playing with Ronnie Bowman and a couple other guys April 9th at the Station Inn. I might check that out. |

went last night. Saw Ronnie Bowman, Chris Stapleton, Shawn Camp, Jimmy Stewart.
DANG fine show! Ole whats her face, Lee Ann Womack was in the crowd... just saying. I have no clue what she sings. Me and my sister almost kidnapped her for a king's ransom of rhinestones and aqua-net. Anyway, Ole Steeldrivers' lead singer's voice was ridiculous! That dude has more soul than the love child of Harriet Tubman and James Brown! Ronnie Bowman had some tear-jerkers that were excruciating! Jimmy Stewart was good on the dobro and had a funny song called I'm naked. Shawn Camp was on fire as usual too. Can't say enough about Chris Stapleton's voice though |

Man, I am kicking myself for not going last night.
You are right about Chris's vocals. I don't know if I have ever heard anything like it.
I got a live steeldrivers cd last time I saw them and I have wore that thing out.
check out this song about a old tree watching the civil war.

I will be at their show there May 3. |

went to the open jam tonight. Wasn't alot of pickers there like usual. I guess the cold snap keep em in. I saw RuralVoice there! Hope the shirt fits man, let me know!
I asked one of the bartenders about a rumor that Ive heard since I've been hearing for 3 years. "Are ya'll moving or shutting down?" he said "nope, we're here to stay.............(long pause) for now." other bartender says, "yea, there's another rumor going round... that he's the illegitimate son of Elvis" first bartender "nah, Satan!" (me inching towards the door) |

The Steeldrivers are going to be at the station inn tomorrow night.
I have not decided if I am going yet, but I would highly recommend others check them out. |

Wow tomorrow is shaping up to be a humdinger. My buddy and I have already started looking for a DD.
Rodge, what time does the wrestling start?
The last time I went to see the steeldrivers it filled up at 7:30. So you do need to get there early.
I am a big wrestling fan. Will super crazy be there?
I know what you mean by cold chills. Since I found the steeldrivers a couple months ago I can not get enough of them. They have a live cd for sale at the show and it is good stuff. |

I think the festivities start at 4pm... and wrestling starts at 6pm.
Thanks for the headsup on SteelDrivers |

Good to meet you Saturday Rodge, it is funny that you sat down right next to me.
We went out on the town after the Steeldrivers show and I am just now starting to feel right again. Hank Jr. was right when he sang "hangovers hurt more than they use to". But I am sure that you would not know anything about that. |

haha! No sir, I wouldn't know anything about it!
Man, I was gone for a good while there. Luckily I drank about 5 glasses of water once I got to the Station Inn and didn't feel any aches the next day. It was real good meeting you man. It's a good thing I sat down by ya... had to split you and that one fella up about 3 times, haha! We'll have to do it again. Dang Steeldrivers blew me away!
I went to the SI sunday too. Saw Mike Farris & Sunday Night Shout... dang gave me cold chills!!! Bluesy Gospel music that'll make ya shout Halalueah! Dude has a full horn section, guitarist, dude on the keys, and 3 black background singers...one that sang for Dylan for a few years in the 70's. I'm going back every chance I get! It gets my highest recommendation. Checkem out HERE
side note. Bawn In The Mash has some new tracks and old tracks that all are downloadable for free HERE |

That's funny.
I don't even know what that guy was saying to me but I felt like he was popping off to me for some reason. I am glad that water woke you up so that you could get between us.
There is some good stuff on youtube of Mike Farris. I might have to check that out one Sunday.
BAWN IN THE MASH!!!!!!!
I like that Vamp in the Middle song. It is a hidden track on their last album and I didn't know what the name was of that song.
It says on their schedule that they are playing at the John Hartford celebration on May 31 in Nashville. I can not find any info on it. Have you heard of it? |
