We should make an Old Crow Medicine Show Tribute album, performed by the fans. Good idea? It would have to be a good record. Ha, if were lucky maybe we could pursuade Nettwerk to Distribute it. |

It's adecent idea. The only problem is, it would almost have to recorded at the same place for it to sound uniform. I guess mastering could try to make it sound proper. |

Count me in, think it could be alot of fun. I'm waiting for my brother to get back from his two month vacation (shoulda been a school teacher) and he has all the recording equipment and know-how to run it. We do Fall On My Knees, Big Time In The Jungle and a few others and are also working on James River Blues, I Hear Them All. I also have a bunch of buddies up North that play alot of thier songs, not to internet savey but damn good pickers.
I don't know anything about all the knobs and switches on those recording things, but I agree the sound quality should be nice and uniform (cause as my buddy JD you don't want to fart in someones ear and call it music). My bro is pretty good with all that stuff and I'm sure would be more than happy to lend a hand.
Also the record label would probably not approve. Looking forward with this, and I'm sure it goes without saying, make sure no money is involved and if recording thier songs is a problem than they've done enough traditional tunes we could delve into them. |

Haven't forgotten about this. I still think it's a great idea. My bro is back from vacation. I'm going to see about recording some stuff this weekend. |

That's a damn good idea... it'd be interesting to hear some different interpretations of the great songs. Put me down for a copy, and I've got shotgun on 'Take Em Away'. |

Finally got around to recording something, still a little rough around the edges as this was my first attempt at recording anything. Everything was done in one take, first guitar and vocals, added a banjo after that, little hambone (bad attempt) and finally harp. Have some time off this week so will probably do some more tinkering.
Also tried to figure out how the hell to get it on the internet, ended up with myspace. If anyone knows of a better spot (tried nowhereradio but had issues) let me know.
Anyways, here it is...

Apparently a good site is nowhereradio.com. Think registration is free and it's similar to something like photo bucket, except it's for music files. |

My Band - John Henry's Hammer could probably contribute something, but, you all grabbed up all 12 or 14 song by Old Crow that we do. Even The Lonesome Road Blues, I figured that one was safe. I can't even play it Publically because someone always thinks it's Wagon Wheel and gets dissappointed that it's not.
BUt I'll think about it, sure I could coming up with something. Sounds like fun.
Since all the Musicians are here on this thread, Do you all play Wagon Wheel live? Even People who never heard it before go nuts for it. Some People only know me as the Guy who does "Wagon Wheel". I don't prticularly like that. I mean I love the song, but that's not what I want to be known for. Especially as more and more people start doing it. I think it should actually be banned at festivals , couldn't go three Feet without tripping over a guitar player playing "Wheel" up at the Grey Fox festival this summer. I don't even do it without it being requested anymore, but it almost always gets requested. And it is a real drag when I am playing alone, not a good solo piece at all. |
