I am bumping this one up, because I think you should know about this wonderful band. They are a band like old crow. Sort of bluegrass, sort of folk, yet they are different than the standards in these genres |

I guess I should have tried the search! Still, any lyrics and or tabs would be sweet! |

Good stuff. I liked my first listen to this band.
It looks like this is a band for you northern folks here. They pretty much stay way north.
I guess they sit down for all of their shows? They still seem to get a lot of energy from the crowd though.
Why is it that most songs about drinking are good?

This bands tha sh!7. seriously.
They personally remind me more of the Hackensaw Boys! They got an awesome collection of songs.
Check out "Empire" and "Deluth" from there Trampled by Turtles site MP3 player
"White Noise" too. Its very very high energy. Much Hackensaw resemblance. |

TBT are one of my MN favs...their live shows are amazing! I was torn between staying here for their show and going to Nashville for NYE. In the end a road trip just sounded like more fun I've met these guys once or twice and they are wonderful people. Should also check out Pert Near Sandstone if you haven't heard 'em yet... |

Dang, they are in Louisville next month with Del Mccoury. I have been wanting to see these guys for a couple years now and they never come close to Nashvegas. That would be a good show! |

A gal I know turned me on to them a bit ago, Rod. Apparently they don't come this way much.
I might like to get out to Blacksburg to see the Hax and this other suggested act, but that's a ways. |

This has been the song stuck in my brain for the past fortnight. Too bad I didn't take your advice when you told me to run out and see em when they were in Pittsburgh some months ago.
New life plan, always listen to Rod. |

Yeah they're pretty sick...reminded me of Justin Earle to a degree. |

Thanks for the heads up on the archive, m311ton. They tear it up pretty good.
Now my anticipation level has ratcheted up a few notches. It's interesting how regional music can still be in the internet age. If the gig was in MN I'm sure DM3 would be opening for TBT. Out here on the central coast and into northern CA DM3 packs the same size houses that Old Crow plays with wild dancing kids. |

That's a lot of pressure, Lucy. Here's my advice.
Trust yourself, follow your heart, and always go to the show. |

That's some great advice. Ha, I am vindicated further in listening to you (but it's ok, because that would be my advice, too.)
New Orleans (and Greyhound month-long bus passes!) are calling for the springtime. We'll see if I'm up to it (both in chutzpah and dollars. Hopefully on the latter is in question.) |

I'll add my two cents to the advice...
Always carry your camera, even if you think it is too cumbersome.
I'm learning that right now. I'm also thinking of investing in a nice light pocket size point and shoot for those days where the big guns are just too much. |

YES. Darn it. You're right. I need to go grab my old point and shoot from back at the parents' house -- I'm not too proud to use it even though I have my shiny new one, and it would have gotten some good pictures at the show, without me feeling like I had to eye security too much.
However jealous I am of your photo skills, I also did enjoy doing nothing but grin for the whole show... Maybe I'll have to go back and forth. And you did get some nice ones to look at and remember the pure magic. |

I'm with you, Lucy. I try to carry my camera wherever I go, but I also try not to get too caught up in it. I've taken a bunch of what I thought were great shots at a couple of shows, but I tend to pay more attention to getting the picture than getting the whole feel of the show. Nowadays I just try to get a couple of good ones to remember, then have FUN! |
