what song are those Avett boys doing in this youtube video? It's got a little "There's More Pretty Girls Than One" teaser in the middle of it as well. Can't get that dang chorus outta my head!

cool video, ozarkbilly!

sounds like woody guthrie's talking blues but with the verses flip-flopped around. i dig it though.

i'm getting excited because i get to see the avett's in huntsville, alabama on 04.17.08. not too far off.

that's my live show for that week in my 52 in 52 project. one live show every week during 2008.

i love new year's resolutions.

i'm actually trying to see (at least) one per week in the attempt to force myself to hear a person or a band that i might have otherwise not checked out.

right now i'm up a week so if something goes down like out of town for work (which i will still try to make a show), or illness or something then i'll bank a show. i'm trying to stay right on schedule but i'm sure something will come up eventually. i guess the end result is the important thing. at least 52 shows this calendar year.

i know there is going to be a sunday night where i have to drag my arse out to and check out something truly terrible though. i'll give a best and a worst review at the end of the year.

you are correct, cornbread, it is Talkin' Blues. Here's a few more versions: one from the Music Farm in Charleston SC, and one from Greensboro NC. All are great in their own right. And that's a kick-ass New Yrs resolution man! Why didn't I think of something like that? I had to pick 'lose 30 lbs'. Yours sounds much funner. Laughing

Man, I like the paintings. Everyone should check them out. Kind of like Michelangelo seen through the eyes of the WPA painters of the Depression.

I'm really impressed with his paintings. Very nice!

Hey I found 2 great links to WWI & WWII propaganda posters. I can't get enough of these. They have always influenced my design work. Click HERE and HERE

I love finding those things! I have a small collection of posters myself. I find the use of women in them very interesting. I have a Navy recruitment post that has a woman dressed in a sailor suit with a really dopey look on her face and it reads, "Gee! I wish I were a man! I'd join the Navy!" And it is the caption "Be a man and do it!" I wish I could find a copy to post.

You mean this one? It's from 1918 - WWI era -- I actually like these better than the WPA/WWII Gov't Propaganda stuff. Has more of a "Rockwell" feel to it. The British and German stuff from WWI is equally appealing -- they're so damned offensive!!! I love it!

That's it! I looked for it forever and finally found it at the Smithsonian on a trip to DC.

I've been really digging this new Avett Song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDmvSO4fIPs

"Last night I dreamt the whole night long
I woke with a head full of songs
I wrote them down but its a shame
Tonight I'll burn the lyrics cause every chorus is your name"
