Check out this vid of Mike Farris... now imagine him with a full horn section, "blackground" singers, dude on the keys, and an anglo-fro'd dude on electric guitar.
It'll electrify your blood! |

If you don't want to fight the crowds at Bonnaroo I recommend going to the Station Inn and checking out the Steeldrivers tonight.
I will be there rocking out to great bluegrass with soul. |

Merlin,
You going to SI to see Chris Stapleton, Shawn Camp, Ronnie Bowman, & Jimmy Stewart tonight?
There is a good chance I'm gonna go. It'd be good to see ya holmes!
*Sidenote: I watched CMT Crossroads of Robert Plant & Allison Kraus last night and all the non-performance stuff was filmed at the Station Inn. They had it all lit up and looking good. Long Live The Inn! |

Man, I would love to go but I have a little randevu with a lady friend set up for this evening. I might try and talk her into going tonight, but I am not sure she wants a late night. I am sure it will be a killer show.
I made a fool of myself last month when I saw the Steeldrivers so I might need to wait awhile before I see Chris. To make a long story short. My buddy and I had a DD so we decided to drink all day leading up to the 9:00 show. Needless to say I had way too much at 11:00. I wandered back into their changing room and talked to them like I was their best friend. Not one of my better moments.
I am getting fired up for the 25th when Bawn in the Mash comes to the Station Inn.
By the way, how did Bawn's last show come out on your lap top? |

Yea man. It was pretty good. Wasn't as good as the first time I saw them there. They weren't really belting out their songs... I think it was where the air-conditioner was busted.
I asked em how it was to meet Robert Plant and they all were like, "meh." They crack me up over there. Straight shooters.
man, I can't wait for Mike Farris to come back to the Inn this Fall. |

I think that I am going to check out the Steep Canyon Rangers tomorrow night at the the station. I read where they have been in town recording their new album, so it might be a fun show. |

Dang Otter, that sounds like a good time.
I wonder who the special guest will be with Shawn Camp? If it is Chris Stapleton I will be peed off that I missed it. I can't get there by 7, but I will be at the Station Inn by 8 and I'm hoping its not full by then. |

Otter, how was the 3rd and Lindsley show?
I really enjoyed the SCR. I think I am going to try and catch them again at the station inn next month. |

The show was really good Merlin. Cowboy Jack and his band played for around 40 minutes then Shawn and Billy played for about 30 minutes, then they all closed it out with a few songs. Their special guest was, crap forgot her name, but her father was a star, which in Nashville could be anybody.
Interestingly enough the place was pretty empty. Nobody upstairs, the back was empty, I'd put the crowd at @75 people. There was a fellow sitting at the table right next to me that I didn't recognize, but Billy and Shawn and several other people spent a lot of time talking to him so I reckon he must be famous.
I hadn't seen Shawn or Billy perform since last year at the Station Inn and didn't recognize Shawn. He looks different, more like what a country "star" looks like. Which is fine, I've always considered him vastly underrated in the country music world.
Shawn's going to be at the Station next Thursday. Probably try to make the show if I don't have to work. |

Mike Farris played an instore at Grimey's last night on the debut of the Live From Station Inn album. It was blazen like Denny Hazen!
I think I might be in the crowd on a few of the tracks. They recorded it over 2 months of sunday night shows at Station Inn.
Saw Walker the Soundguy there. Didnt talk to him though. Mike Farris and his band would be a great opener for OCMS. Would really like to here him and Willie trade vocals on some songs and also hear Mike's band play on some Crow tunes. Great stuff yall! |

'Better Times' available today
From senior music writer Peter Cooper:
Nashville singer-songwriter Diana Jones' Better Times Will Come album has been out in Europe for months, but it is finally available here in the good ol' USA. The album features guest appearances from Nanci Griffith, Mary Gauthier, Betty Elders and Ketch Secor, and songs include Jones' "Henry Russell's Last Words," which was recorded by Joan Baez on the Day After Tomorrow album.
Jones celebrates the continental release of Better Times Will Come with a 9 p.m. show today at Station Inn, 402 12th Ave. S. Cover charge is $10, and tickets are available at the door. |

Rodge, you are so right about Mike Farris. I saw them tear it up saturday night and then come back sunday morning at the revival and they are just f-in' fantastic. I say them because the band is tight and the McCreary sisters really belt out that good gospel sound. |
