GAC Master's Series Highlights Hall-of-Famers Back To Today's Country Music News
8/11/2008
Mac McKinnon
Great American Country’s “Masters Series” will devote a week of coverage to the recent inductions of The Statler Brothers, Tom T. Hall, Emmylou Harris and Ernest V. “Pop” Stoneman into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
The program, which will premiere Tuesday, Aug. 12, will feature exclusive footage from each artist’s Medallion Ceremony, which occurred upon their induction into the Hall.
The ceremonies include performances, presentations and acceptance speeches, and each is presented to the artist by a current member of the Hall of Fame.
Each inductee was also honored by other musicians, who performed some of the hits that made them famous. Performers include Old Crow Medicine Show, Pop Stoneman, Heather Barry, The Statler Brothers and Tony Mabe.
"Master Series" Medallion Ceremony Presentations (broadcast at 10 a.m. & 3 p.m. ET each day):
Tuesday- Emmylou Harris
Wednesday- Pop Stoneman
Thursday - Tom T. Hall
Friday- The Statler Brothers |

even though GAC isnt wonderful, they do a lot better job than CMT with staying true to roots. They have a lot of good interviews with stars...usually at the hall of fame in front of the Merle Travis display. |

no! Cmt is too busy showing crap shows about redneck weddings and pop stars becoming "country" singers.
GAC does a much better job of playing music. They mix in a lot of older stuff that never gets played on main stream country stations.
Now if I could only get GAC on my regular cable right outside of Nashville. Stupid cable provider. |

I second what Merlin said. My cable provider only has CMT. I guess I'll miss this one, just like I missed that (supposedly) awesome interview GAC did with OCMS last year. I wasn't able to view the interview somebody posted on here before they took it off. I got double screwed. |

I have much love for GAC since the first time I ever heard OCMS was on "The Edge of Country". Kylie Harris played the video for Wagon Wheel and made my life better.

And there's a fine example of the change in generations. In my time, we liked things cool, 'tucky likes 'em HAWT. (And good thing there are no spelling nazis on this board! Wink.) |

I was talkin' about Kylie Harris... Things are "cool" for my generation as well, KG. Gals are HAWT when they are sexy like that gal. A real britches shortener, that one.
Wonder if any of the guys shagged 'er?? My suspicion would be Crit... |

Well, that's an even better example of my ignorance. Let me say ...
Yes, she was HAWT. |

That is exactly why I dropped the name, to see if you boys agreed. And come to think of it, I do believe she was giving Critter the eye.

what? don't tell me they edited out the OCMS's INCREDIBLE performance of "Tell Mother"... People just don't know a good thing when it smacks them right across the face. |

I fast forwarded through the whole thing. Seems like there might have been a few other lil performances but they were all just clips too. It looked like they talked to some old woman the whole time. But yea, at most 45 seconds of actual Old Crow footage and it was pretty crap... a tad bit over amatuer quality but by no means Austin City Limits or Conan. Ah well. |
