Does anybody know what instrument is being played in Cocaine habit on Eutaw? It has a squeaky? sound. I assume it's some kind of blow-instrument?
I think it sounds sweet and I really want to know so I can buy one and learn it.
Thank you |

I think you are referring to the Kazoo. |

Aaah thanks a lot. That's a neat sounding little thing!
I first heard it in a song called Aint that skippin and flyin by the Allen Brothers. Then I heard it in Cocaine habit. I guess that's the only time they've used it. I wonder who plays it, at first I thought Ketch, but then who's playin the harp. So maybe it's a sideman. |

It is def Ketch on the harp so i bet you are right Fiorano, not sure of Willie's skills on it, but it does help the song |

Check out some Carolina Chocolate Drops too.... Rhiannon plays a mean kazoo on a couple of songs though the song titles escape me right now. |

Now thats a band I might hang on to! I found Memphis Shakedown and some other good tunes on their website. I'm taking my Jeep Cherokee to town today to get myself the kazoo. I live alone without any close neighbours so I can play all night long without pissing anyone off |

A lot of their stuff is up on archive.org, and Dom's given them his blessing, so it's all legit. "Your Baby Ain't Sweet Like Mine" is a live favorite of theirs and it's got some great kazoo work on it.
