BLUEFIELD MURDER
I was born in Bluefield
A city you all know well
Brought up by good old parents
A story to you I'll tell
My name is Walter Summer
A name I'll never deny
I'm now behind these prison walls
To stay until I die

My mother used to plead with me
My dear old papa too
To quit this wild and reckless life
And bad things not to do
But alas one fateful evening
I roamed down in our town
To the house of Ethel Sullivan
I shot that poor girl down

The policeman came and got me
He brought me down to jail
My friends have all done turned me down
With no one to go my bail
And the jury found me guilty
I heard the old judge say
I give this young man ninety-nine years
In the state penitentiary

The Bluefield Murder - Charlie Poole, recorded 16th Feb 1928
I was born Bluefield, a city you all know well

| yeah...all i did was sit down with my ipod and listen to the quasi good quality live recording of old crow singing the song, and typed what i heard and could make out. BUT thanks a bunch for the corrections. I tried to find the Charlie Poole lyrics but failed. |

wow...nvm. I did that for "Please Don't Holler Mama"
For "Bluefield Murder" I sat down and typed what I heard as well...and couldn't find lyrics of Charlie Poole singing it either. Thanks for the kudos! |
