Soldier's Joy is definitely more common in standard tuning. I don't know about the "preferred" Wink method, but definitely more common.

Thanks for the addition!
The original post now reflects both SJ tabs.

A new tab for "Old Plank Road" has been added. Would it be possible for one of the mods to change the title of this thread to "Fiddle tabs and tunings" to better reflect its content now? Very Happy Thanks!

Added all the new songs to the original post...

Standard - Genevieve, Half Mile Down, Levi
ADAE -Carry Me Back, Country Gal
AEAE - Bootlegger's Boy, Sewanee Mtn Catfight
Bb-F-Bb-F (Dervish tuning) - We Don't Grow Tobacco

I may be off on a string for one or more of these, I just tried to quickly run through them to see which tuning was easier to play, and my hunches based on the key they're in. I don't know if Ketch has ever used the "Dervish" tuning before, I'm wondering if there was a last-minute decision to bump up the song a half-step (possible for the sake of the vocals). I should go on youtube and see what key they've been playing it in concert.

I also added as many songs from their back-catalogue featuring fiddle that I could find, and labeled them unorganized, so any of you fiddlers take a look through and see if you know the right tunings for those ones and I can get them in their proper space as well.

Alright, so I have finally finished cataloging! Thanks to those that helped. It's possible I was wrong on a few, but for the most part I think it's pretty accurate. I believe I've got all their studio stuff, as well as some live stuff. I'll probably add more live tunes sporadically as I learn them.

What I've learned:

-Standard tuning is far from standard, only the third most commonly used tuning by Ketch after AEAE and ADAE, which comprise the vast majority of the songs.

-Ketch has used a wide number of tunings over the years, a total of 9 different tunings I was able to distinguish. I'm guessing a few of the one-offs are the product of circumstance, where they've decided to change keys shortly before recording (James River Blues, Tobacco, Next Go 'Round).

-"Silver Dagger" is the only song above that does not feature Ketch on fiddle.

Been playing around with Johnny Get Your Gun and it's ADAE, not ADAD like I originally thought.
Woo-ee, that's a smokin' one!
