It was really great for a cold and wet Tuesday night. They killed it like always. Ol Caveman was out there too with some liquid dessert. The boys on stage definitely were liking it, haha!
Pokey & the fellas are recording with Jack White for the two days they are in town at Third Man Records. Jack is sitting in on few too. They are about to head over to London to tape Jools Holland's New Year Special. Boys are blowing up! |

Now that is exciting news! I wonder if they'll do some other gigs while they're here? |

I think they said they were just playing it then flying back the next day and playing two shows in one day in St. Louis. No rest for the weary. |

Wow! That will be exhausting. Been trying to find out how on earth you get tickets for Jools Holland's Hootenanny. It's rumoured to have a four year waiting list |

Great show last night in Co Mo. Encore was amazing ~ unplugged in the middle of the floor, jammin with the opening band (Wilders), Felt like an old barn hoedown. Lovin' me some Pokey! He was dancing with his gorgeous gal during the opening band, he can cut a rug! |

Wow, the boys are creating SOME stir over here with their performance on Jools!
For me, definitely the best thing about that Hogmanay show!! Very happy the boys got to go on!!
They're also on the Bob Harris Country show tonight (7pm GMT): http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b018nsd7 it'll be on iplayer later on too. |

It's been a TV music staple here in the UK for as long as I can remember. He gets some pretty bigs names on there - he's a very talented musician himself. The website gives you an indication of the calibre.

Several of my friends were raving about Pokey afterwards - I was surprised 'cos I'm usually on my own musically! |

Haha! Yep. I'm still dining out on the fact I dragged my friends to a tiny pub in Brighton to see a complete unknown singer called Adele playing to an audience of less than 100! |

OK, that is going to be a regular watch for me. Found THIS video when I went to the site.
Funny thing is that I randomly found a song by him a few days ago and played it on my radio show. I thought it was from 1960's and never heard of him and even introduced it that way. It blew my mind when I found out he is just now releasing music. |

About three days before Chasing Pavements was released. It was a complete fluke to be honest. I was looking for something to do and the tickets were a fiver. Really wish I hadn't deleted the video from my phone!!!! |

Yes, this! I got quite a few "Oh, I saw that guy/band you keep going on about on Jools on Hogmanay" comments from all sorts of folk. Was kinda surreal seeing them on proper telly after having seen them in all sorts of venues before.
It's definitely a pretty big deal to be on Later.. or the Hootenanny, especially as it's about the only live music show on TV over here these days. Love how they still pretend it's all going out "live" on the Hogmanay show though
And a session on Bob Harris Country on BBC Radio 2 is fab too! He's got a lot of clout and it's a great endorsement to get a session on his show.
Looking forward to the shows in March! It's going to be interesting to see how the demographic of the crowd has changed after all this! They've been booked into some pretty cool venues too, so should be fab!!

I saw that too! Very excited to hear Pokey's new effort. He's a fun talent to watch perform. Hopefully I'll catch him next time he's on the West Coast. I kicked myself missing him playing SF last year, won't screw it up this time! |

LaFarge is his real last name but he's pretty secretive about his real first name. My bet is Mortimer |

His 1st name has 4 letters. My one and only hint. Hell of a nice guy, who loves to chat it up after shows. We are now on a first name basis as I buy the band shots if they play "We're Drinkin Whiskey Tonight". |

Simon - I'm sure you got the Hackensaw Boys' "Keep It Simple" album?
Take a look at the personnel on that, and all will be revealed
You won't be disappointed by the boys' show! Definitely on of those bands you got to see live. They put on a hell of a show, and are real nice guys! I'm sure you'll have a blast!
I saw them again in Cork on Saturday, and they were ON FIRE! Surviving on 5 hours' sleep in three days, they came on early, played longer than they were supposed to, and did two lots of encores.
They played the usual mix on songs from all of their albums, and, once more, played Cairo, IL, and also revived Josephine, which Pokey played on his own. NICE!
Appearing on Jools really has done wonders for them over here. Every single show in the UK/Ireland is sold out, and the crowds are well up for it! So excited for the boys.
The single they recorded for Evangelist is now out as a 45rpm which they're selling at the shows, and the 78rpm is coming out for record store day and will then also be available on the tour. Will need to pick up both at some stage |
