(and there is no lap steel on the 4.45 one)

go to http://hypem.com/#!/search/wagon%20wheel/1/
and scroll down til you see Cumberland gap (Wagon Wheel) and click play

you need to paste the whole address

i think it's an outtake from sometime around the end of 2000 to early 2001. You can hear a faint bit of Kinman on the mandolin.

Is it just me? I might be a little cranky today, but I had to get this off my chest.

I was trolling through U-tube looking for new OCMS stuff (still hoping for a version of 1/2 Mile Down) and it began to bother me how many people call Wagon Wheel a Dylan song(I'm referring to the 28 people a day who upload their own cover version-a cottage industry all by itself). Yes I know, but officially it's a Dylan/Secor song AND if Ketch hadn't re-worked, dare I same improved it(clearly I dare, I just said it), it would still be an obscure throw away from Billy The Kid that only Dylan completists would know about.

You people aren't making any hipster points by calling it a Dylan song (esp if you use the full OCMS lyrics and progressions). And some of you clowns are even calling it "Rock Me Mama" AND using Ketch's lyrics.

Do you want to know how important the Secor revisions are to the original? The link below is to some other guys re-write of the Dylan original. The music will make my point for me-

O.K., I had to go look @ it since you've mentioned it again. I made it 40 seconds in before I almost chucked... that is pretty dang awful. What's amazing is that he must have been serious!

I don't like to openly mock the artistic ASSpirations of others, but reading the comments of this was a lot of fun. My favorites-

"this has to be a joke...my eyes and ears are burning with disgust"

And

"mama shoot me! ;(~"
