So I thought I'd open a thread for this show too, hope that's ok!

Still on a high from the day before, we made our way to Glasgow. Even though we were in the middle of the queue we managed to get right to the front. It was all a bit late starting due to the soundcheck overrunning, but thank God there wasn't to be a club night on afterwards, so they wouldn't need to stop at 10pm sharp!

I don't think the place sold out, but it looked pretty packed with folk of all ages and everyone seemed so up for this. There were some slightly lost looking metalheads next to us and I wondered if they'd mistook the ABC for the Classic Grand, but I was soon to find out why:

We got John Paul Jones!!!!! OMG, I had absolutely no idea that he was going to be playing mandolin with DRM! How cool was that! Mr.Jay nearly freaked out as he loves Led Zep and also had no idea that JPJ was about to be at this gig. Oh man, talk about getting spoiled!

The atmosphere was electric right away, and they all launched into “Monkey And The Engineer”. The setlist was pretty much exactly the same as Belfast, but DRM also played “Bells of Harlem” and OCMS did “Shortenin’ Bread”. I’m afraid I’m really hopeless at remembering exactly what was played when (and the two nights are starting to blur into one – especially seen as I stood in pretty much the same place both nights), and some big guy nipped in in front of me to get the setlist I had my eye on, but I’m copying last night’s setlist into here and will try and edit/add as and when I remember. Or maybe there are some other good folks on here who have been to the show and are better at this.

Dave Rawlings Machine
Dave, Gillian, Ketch, Willie, Morgan and John Paul Jones

Monkey and the Engineer
Hot Corn Cold Corn
I Hear Them All/This Land Is Your Land
Ruby Wow, you can hear Ketch's bass so well at the end!
Bells Of Harlem
Sweet Tooth featuring THE DANCE by Ketch, Willie and JPJ
Candy
It's Too Easy
Miss Ohio
Method Acting
To Be Young
Queen Jane

Old Crow Medicine Show
Kevin, Ketch, Morgan, Willie, Cory, Gill (left to right)

The Hog-Eye Man
Hard To Love
Down Home Girl
Poor Man
Wheeling Breakdown
Raise A Ruckus
Humdinger
Caroline
Better Together
Alabama High Test
My Bones are Gonna Rise Again Oh yesss!! I LOVE this!!
Mary's Kitchen
“Hot Fiddle tune”
Highway Halo
New Virginia Creeper (“Cody” sings)
Minglewood Blues
Good Lord Willing and the Creek Don't Rise
Shortenin’ Bread
Wrecking Ball with Gillian (lead vcl) and Dave
My Good Gal (This time “The folks of Glasgow need a good murder ballad!”)
Hard To Tell
CC Rider
Wagon Wheel and Tell It To Me
Band intros. Again, everyone was themselves except Cory, who was again “Cody Young”
Tell It To Me outro
The Weight

This was my fourth time seeing them and Belfast and this must have been the bestest I’ve seen them ever!! They just seemed to absolutely love what they were doing and you could see that they were having a great time!

They also ran over a grouse on their way from the ferry to the venue. Ketch said, that they’d apparently “gone a bit faster in a 35mph zone than we should have” Smile

JPJ fitted in seamlessly and sounded great on the mando! I loved the twin fiddles in Belfast - and this time we got triple fiddles!! It was amazing!

Willie of course broke a string and again changed it in record time, much to the delight of the fans. He was also losing track of the setlist and announced the wrong song about three times.

I think it was when they played Wrecking Ball, Dave had his capo on the wrong fret and it sounded bad. He changed it right away, but then tapped Gillian on the shoulder and got her to start again and said “We used to play this in b flat” and winked at the crowd Smile

The crowd totally adored them and it was a fantastic atmosphere, with much dancing and singing along.

Folk were shouting for CC Rider and also The Weight, and when they got that as the encore, the whole place errupted and was singing along.

Here’s Rob Adams’ review from the Herald and Fiona Shepherd’s from the Scotsman. Four and five stars!! Yay!!

I'll get pics uploaded as soon as I can, too.

What a fabulous night!! I’ve had such a great time and wish I could go again.

These guys are just the best live, and what a privilege to see them all perform together!![/url]

Kitty - aye, it's so much fun to have the boys (and gal) over here again! It always sounds so much fun when you guys are talking about the gigs. So happy they came back over here! That dance was the funniest thing and way cool that it actually makes you like the song a bit better Very Happy

Stu - they're not actually my vids... I just found them on Youtube and thought I'd link to them. Glad the guy caught some of the songs, especially "the dance"! Aye, JPJ did great with the dance. We were right in front of them and he looked so bewildered Very Happy

Thanks Katie! Yes, it was as epic as the night before and I'd happily have gone again last night and I'd love to make it down south for another show, but I'm definitely skint now and can't get time off work...But I'm sure you'll have a blast!

My friend's totally converted now and changed her work schedule so she can go on Friday (she stays down south, so it's easy for her to get to). So there's someone else we can welcome to the murder... Smile

Rodge - I know!! It was such a surprise!! Right enough, it does say it on JPJ's website, but of course I'd never have thought of checking that...he was rawking!!

I'm gonna be really skint after Brighton - luckily it's within driving distance and my other half has offered to drive - hurray!!
