Oooh, those are way better than my porch shots. Camera was not behaving and neither was my artistic wherewithal.
Train, we wondered if anyone else was around! It's okay, I've been at the same show as Whistle like 87 times and not met him yet. You were probably standing like five feet away at one point.
And indeed, let me speak for the ladies of the world and say yes, Willie's haircut is a mighty good thing. |

Apparently musicians come to this porch to talk, tell stories and play a bit. There is a host there asking questions. Ketch was schedule for the workshop and he brought Willie out after a bit.
I like the haircut too. I like being able to see his eyes... his face is so expressive and his eyes just add to it. I feel like my mom when I say that as she was always cutting our hair so she could see our eyes. |

Well. I brought the 35mm film camera that I learned how to shoot on in high school along, but I forgot to get it out at the porch. Lucy and I walked up as Ketch was walking out of the door on the porch, so I was a bit rushed and just pulled a camera out of my bag.
I think most of these were taken with my ever-trusty, always ready to work, Sigma 24-70 F2.8.
Arthur is awesome. He has an infectious smile. We mumbled a few words after the show, then he slunk away to avoid photos. |

train... any chance you are going to Whispering Beard at the end of August? No Old Crow, but a great line-up. My sister and I will be there. |

I guess it's time for the nervous over-analysis?
I dunno. Ketch and Wilie I have seen in better moods than they seemed to be on the porch thing, but that could have been an off day. It didn't seem dramatic to me, but what do I know after eight shows in a few years? |

Nice photos Lucy... I like the last one a lot. These make me want to get at mine.
I don't think there was anything off at all. The proch was a very different setting than we usually see them in, so I think it would be difficult to say how they would normally act in that situation. Ketch was super talkative, Willie was quiet, but smiled and laughed some. After, they hung out in the back briefly, chatted and took photos with fans. All seemed well.
I think the evening set was one of the best I had seen in a long time. It was the best festival set I have seen from any performer, ever. Of course I'm coming off the truncated, underappreciated Railroad Revival sets, but it was still pretty awesome. I drove a bit over ten hours that day, got in a fender bender and thought I was going to start to hallucinate in the heat. It was all worth being there, even before I knew about the hiatus... |
