Surely he will play a Nashville show towards the end of his tour. Anxious to hear how that Chattanooga show is. |

I was on there at 1pm to get tix, but no dang luck. I don't even know why they'd advertise to the public if they only have that teeny amount of tix! They oughtta just sell to the fanclub or something...
Made me awful jealous of you, Pope.
I may have even broken a Commandment- "Thou shalt not lust after another man's tickets." |

Same here. I want to know about that venue too. I have a bad feeling I'm going to regret not getting tickets for this. |

I was told the bass player for the South City Three was playing bass on Sixteen Saltines, but I can't say for sure. Anyone care to make a guess? |

This my my 500th post.
The show last night was incredible! I got the venue around 4:30, and there were over 100 people already in line. I picked up my will call tickets, and went to get a bite to eat. Got back right round 6, and the line had nearly doubled. I knew it was gonna be long night of standing...and it was..
Right before the doors opened, a police officer came down the line telling you to put your phone away, that there would be no photos or videos allowed, and if caught just taking out your phone o look at it for the time, you will taken into a separate room where they would search through your phone and delete any pictures, videos, or audio recordings, and then escort you out of the venue. Security was quite tight.
Anyway, once we got into the venue, the fog machine had been going, so everything was smoky, and a haze of light blue which seems to be the color jack is leaning towards for his solo stuff. I checked out the merch, and they had a poster that appeared to be lips in light blue, but they were actually silhouette of the buzzards that is another common theme for his solo stuff. There were button's stickers, and 3 different t-shirts as well as the latest record Love Interruption, a limited tour only sleeve for Love Interruption, and the Fly Farm Blues 7" that was recorded for the movie It Might Get Loud.
The opening band was called Hell Beach. They were a 3 piece, drums, guitar, and singer. They were lousy. drone drone drone...The singer seemed more into striking poses than actually singing. They played about 35 minutes,
Once they finished, the stage was cleared, and you seen jack's set up. It appeared that we were going to start with the female band since there was a slide steel guitar dead center behind Jack's three amps. There were also giant umm...what to call them? bars I guess to make the | | | for the backdrop. .He had it set up a lot like the SNL performance last week, except There was only one mic in the front. I noticed one of the well dressed stage hands remove the steel guitar, and with the lone mic stand in the front, I was thinking maybe we are getting the male band. The steel was brought back out,, so i was all confused.
A little while later, the lights went down, and the light blue illuminated behind the bars, and jack and the females walked out. the roar was deafening! Jack then launched into Dead Leaves and The Dirty Ground. It was amazing! After that he did Sixteen Saltines (which he played with the male band on SNL), and another new song i didn't recognize. Not sure exactly how the set list went, It was too packed and security too tight for me to even attempt to write it down, but he played pretty much the same set list that was played at Third Man two days before (see link above). A couple of the songs were missing (Blue Blood Blues and Steady as She Goes, but we got a I'm Slowly Turning into You.
Here's the kicker. The male band never played! There were several people on the side of the stage, but i never seen him. I seen Allison Mosshart from the kills, and the dead weather, and a couple of the guys that worked at TMR, but i didn't recognize the others. Cory never made an appearance.
The whole show lasted about an hour an a half. we were treated to new songs, white stripes songs, a dead weather song, and at least one raconteurs song. it was a great show. Seven Nation Army and Ball & Biscuit were insane. And the drummer was unbelievable...and yeah..i'm gonna say it..she puts Meg to shame.
ramble ramble i know...I'll wrap it up.
The show ended with Goodnight Irene.
Great stuff..my ears are still ringing...hope it's not permanent. been a long time since I went to one of these super loud rock shows standing with kids half my age.
How's that for post 500? |
