I love it. Almost as good. As the sopranos. Nearly pissed myself when the truck tipped over.

1. the greatest tv show has been and always will be THE WIRE
2. Breaking Bad is a pretty damn close second. Its so tense and uncomfortable to watch, but gosh its good.

For that reason, I couldn't bare to watch Breaking Bad for too long. While I agree it is a pretty compelling story and production, I always just felt so dark and gloomy after watching. Justified, on the other hand, is my chart topper for current television shows.

I disagree, respectfully, I didn't have HBO to see much of The Wire, The Sopranos was very good, but it wasn't nearly as tigthly wound as Breaking Bad... Breaking Bad has so much fun with suspense and Black comedy that you are on the edge of your seat laughing... Brian Cranston deserves an academy award for the tense and comical way you can watch the wheels turn in Walt/Heizenberg's head even when he says nothing...

You have a valid point, but nothing (and I mean nothing) beats the scene from S2 where Jimmy asks the waitress if he can get some scrapple and eggs...

What'd you all think of the Hamsterdam storyline?
I watched the Wire on DVD like a year ago and I'm still processing.

I watch Breaking Bad too, and I think the acting from Cranston and Aaron Paul is second to none. The OD scene is one of the most horrifying things I've ever seen on TV, ever, to watch someone actively struggle against (what's left of) their conscience, so viscerally. But the show on a whole I think suffers from outlandish plots (see this week's ep) and these occasional over-stylized choices (the twins, you-know-who's death, quirky camera shots, and so on). I say the more Walt-Jesse interactions the better, that has to be the heart of the show. All the rest, eh.

But Whistle,
The show was never about Realism... the speed in which Walt adapted to his new life in season one attests to that, as does Gus Straightening his tie, right after he stood up and left the room where he got blowed up.

The show is a dark, tense, black comedy, pulp fiction, character study, about the deteriation of his soul. Too many people miss that, Breaking Bad is intentionally surreal. It doesn't take place in the REAL World, Everything is at least slightly askew. It's MacBeth on Meth.

That was fantastic last night. It was forshadowed too " Just because you Shot Jesse James, that don't make you Jesse James" HA! Now they are robbing trains just like Jesse James!
I love that show.
