Great! Will pass it along to the crew here... Four of us total. Will let Tucky know, too, if'n he doesn't have Internet.
And Rodge.... Thanks again for the stone fox tip. We had a fabulous time and it was right by the hotel! |

Great catching up with old crow friends last night! We have made it back to Durham and I was just thinking about the show. Hope folks got to listen online... Or maybe it will be rebroadcasted.
There were no big surprises... Though I liked the solo Ketch intro and all of them crowded around the one mic like those good ol' days!!! It was also fun to watch Cory and Critter tag-teaming Virginia Creeper!
My first time seeing Pokey LaFarge.... New fan! And wish Chuck Meade would have been in on more songs... Like ditch that bit with Elizabeth Cook. Ugh!
I am hoping Tucky got the setlist!
Happy 2013! |

You Ain't Goin' Nowhere almost made up for the horrifying lack of a Breakin' Up Christmas.
Huge thanks again to that lovely person who fixed our ticket situation! |

It is a great one one for sure! Sad that it probably will only be played on NYE! I also really enjoyed Ketch singing that good ol' hymn at the beginning How Can I Keep from Singing. Course Ketch put his own tweaks in it - - but still a great hymn and tune. |

Thanks for posting this. I couldn't make it because of health reasons, but I listened on WSM Online. What a great song to start the show. Fabulous. |

I have been creepin on this blog for a while now and just wanted to say hello. I attended the NYE show and was lucky enough to be on the 2nd row. This is the second time I have been able to see the boys and it was the best concert I have ever been too! I was also able to get a copy of the setlist. If someone can tell me how to upload an attachment here I will gladly do so. |

Best show I've seen on the Carry Me Back tour. One if the better shows I've ever seen. No surprises on the setlist other than what wasn't on it. Still can't wait to hear Genevieve live. Wish Cory had been out for the entire set, but seeing him on stage with Old Crow again was awesome. I am still partial to NYE show 2011. But we all have our favorites for different reasons. Hands down beat show I've seen since Willie left. |

I liked the way they started the show out, and the new song was very appropriate and enjoyable. From a musical standpoint I thought the guys were on throughout the night, and the harmonies with Ketch, Critter and Chance were really hitting those sweet-spots.
Other particular highlights for me:
-Pokey LaFarge (Ran a bit too long for an opener, but I love their sound)
-The ending of "Tear It Down" -- ?!!? crazy.
-I Hear Them All -> This Land is Your Land
-Chuck Mead on Cherokee Shuffle
-Singing the intros (Hearing Morgan sing!)
-Seeing Critter's goofy grin while playing the snare drum
I feel like the band did a really great job of spreading the love around, so that all the members got several features and it definitely didn't come off as "The Ketch Show" without Willie.
I think the biggest weakness of the night was in the song selection. "We Don't Grow Tobacco" just doesn't work without being sung by Willie. Could've done without "My Good Gal". The one with the girl was a tad dull. Really wished Gill had gotten more than one vocal number. (Aside: "Steppin' Out" with the washboard player from Pokey - c'mon, that would've been AWESOME). Also would have liked them to dig a little deeper into their catalogue - I don't have a setlist to go on, but I doubt there were more than a couple that were pre-OCMS tracks.
Overall a very enjoyable show that probably fits snugly in the middle of the shows that I've seen. Looking forward to next year! (Unless the boys decide to swing into West Virginia before then). |

1. I kinda agree -- not a lot of variety there lately.
2. You're kidding, right? Critter frickin' rules. I'm of the opinion that it's tunes like "Ruckus", "Trials & Troubles", "Tear It Down" and "Kness" that work far less. "Johnny Get Your Gun" was always Ketch&Critter-heavy on the vocals - bring that back into the rotation... (perhaps that message would be inconsistent with Ketch's swords into plowshares vision, tho )
3. I thought that was pretty awesome. Have always loved that one. I thought it was some of McCoy's best licks of the night, honestly.
4. Whistle, you generous old chap. |

Yeah, I can dig "Tobacco" sans Willie, but so many of the Willie-heavy songs just made me think of Chance as Not Willie...
"Knees" needs Willie. If only because of the high note at the end of this performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irWsXIKITro
You just can't replace that.
"Ain't It Enough" can work without Willie, but that moment was harshed by drunk morons coming to stand directly in front of me.
"Good Gal" was good to hear. I still am dying for "Genevive" and "Half Mile Down"... |

Of course...the first show in years that I don't snap a single picture and they are making an official fan photo gallery! Ugh!
I do have to say that despite my post-show disappointment I had an awesome time at the show. I'm not sure if I enjoyed the actual show more than the Milwaukee show, which all might have to do with the seats and my proximity to the stage. But, I'm glad we made the trek for sure! Thank goodness for a chivalrous fiance who drove the entire 9.5 hours home so I could rest my aching hip and back on the heated seat.
Even if the meetings were brief it was nice to see some familiar faces again! And meet a new 'friend.' |
