I like the change to

I was just flipping through the Billboard 100 (a strange mix of music these days) and say Rucker is climbing the charts with Wagon Wheel. I didn't believe it, had to play the song to make sure it was the same one. |

Crazy, ain't it? Me and my boy go to the skating rink on Sunday afternoons and you can currently hear Wagon Wheel sandwiched in between Rhianna and Flo Rida or some such. I assume most people don't have a clue to the song's heritage... Possibly they believe I am trendy and cool because I know the words to a "brand new tune"! |

You may well be lots of things, chigley, but trendy and cool are not on the list.
I would have to disown you if you were. |

Thanks for bringing me back to earth, bro. I had started to believe the hype- I've gotta go return those skinny jeans now... |

Not as dude-bro-ish as that other country-rock dude's cover, but nothing special.
If you want yer other "Wagon Wheel"s, I still dig Tom Gabel of Against Me!'s one, which, ya know, technically got me into the band in the first place (well, and a friend's copy of OCMS). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUtdoyPG0OY
That one is different than the original, but manages to keep the good, achy-feel. Old Hootie and the other dude just do not manage to do that. |
