Was on the road Friday night heading back to RVa from old Pittsy and tuned into WSM just as Bootlegger's Boy started... I said "Whaaaaaaat?" and Dad said "That's the Old Crows!"
It was a proud moment... |

HERE is the video for it
It's got the Station Inn, Duck Dynasty, and Hobo'n in it -- so, it can't be too too bad, right...? |

Sort of off subject, but I love the part where he's rubbing the mirror...just where the squeaky fiddler part is. As a kid, I loved rubbing condensation off mirrors and pretending I was a fiddler...making it squeak in time to some rhythm in my head. (Is that really weird?) |

I could not get away from bad renditions of Wagon Wheel during my conference in Alabama. Band in Flora-bama bar playing it (they weren't too bad). Band at our reception playing it (guitar and bongo drum.... they didn't get the lyrics right either time they played it). Hootie on the radio. Dang.... it was like a curse! |

Maybe they'll blame him for not knowing which direction the Cumberland Gap is!!!!!!!!!! |

Meh, pretty standard country version, not bad IMHO.
I'm sure Ketch doesn't care too much about whether people think Rucker or him wrote it- he's still getting the royalties at the end of the day, and people are playing and singing his song, so he must get some satisfaction out of that. Plus, with the number of times they've played that song in their existence, OCMS probably happy someone else is going to have to go through the "WAGON WHEEEEEEEEEL" shouts at shows...

I've heard the Rucker version used as "play-out" music on sports broadcasts, but I'm watching the Bruins game, they do a live look0in to the Caps-Rangers game, and the OCMS version's playing over the speakers in the stadium. Wonder how much of a bump that version will get from Rucker's going #1...
Maybe the Troubles version will get more play... Nah, probably not...
