Well - - just to show that the Forum had some representatives on-site for the show at Brewery Ommegang!!

JumpinBean, myself, and our Misters meet up in Cooperstown for the show and other fun. Good show, fun venue, a bit drizzly. Really enjoyed my first Spirit Family Reunion and Langhorn Slim and The Law as openers, too.

Some highlights (from my perspective)
Ketch doing is little banter about beautiful NY girls breaking Critter's heart... and Critter follows up with "Yup, she broke my heart so I wrote a song about a share-cropper ---> Take Em Away"

Got two round all around the mic acoustic songs... First one I don't really know, the second was Warden.

Encore: John Fogerty's "Centerfield" sung by Cory on the organ. Sweet and fitting! Also brought everyone out on stage for Tom T Hall's "I Like Beer" (since we were at a brewery.... why not!) and another song I can't remember right now. Sorry - my memory isn't what it used to be!

Very awesome! I wish I could have gone to those but had too much going on back home.

So Spirit Fam and the Old Crow boys seem to gel well?

Ya, I enjoyed them. But even JumpinBean said that the woman's voice for SFR was not up to par. She was horse and sounded like she was yelling half the time. But they got the crowd good and warmed up for Langhorn Slim then the Crow boys. I'd see them again for sure if they were around again!

Found these

This Land Is Your Land

I Like Beer

You know, I don't think I've heard Old Crow sing about beer before. Booze, Whiskey and Moonshine, yes. Beer seems like a rarity. Humdinger may mention it but that's the only one I can think of, off hand.

Sewanee Mt Catfight gives beer a swift mention, but really ... are there any decent beers over there?

Also, since i got a double post by trying to edit and can't delete it, I always thought beer was implied in Big Time In The Jungle, though not exactly mentioned ....

I have to say that Spirit Family was a bit off their game in general, not just Maggie's voice being hoarse. I attribute it to being a bit cooped up on the stage. Every time I have seen them they have had space to move and the washboard, tambourine, etc. player was all over the place. With the size of the stage and the equipment for the other two bands on stage they had no room to move at all. It was still great to see them again though.

I also just looked at their schedule and they are coming to my neck of the woods soon. I'm going to try to go, but standing shows aren't so good for this pregnant lady these days. I also saw that they are opening a string of shows for the Felice Brothers. I would LOVE to see that. I saw the Felice Brothers in June and was happy to see them returning to their older style of music more and upping the professionalism on stage.

As for the Old Crow portion of the Cooperstown show, I'm so glad that we made the trip. It will be my last show, especially since they don't come 'round my parts much, for a while. It was a good one, with a nice long set list. I didn't keep a list because I just wanted to be able to float away in the music this time. I was happy to see Cory take the lead for two songs, he has a really great and versatile voice. He also seemed a lot more confident on stage than he was during his last stint with the boys. I hope this grows and he take the lead a little more often. I think it would fill in a certain gap nicely.

I was also happy to see Chance a bit more integrated and comfortable. He didn't look like he was going to vomit and had no deer-in-the-headlights expression. He appeared relaxed and seemed to be enjoying himself. I look forward to more from him soon too.

Lastly, I just want to say that my favorite song of the night was 8 Dogs 8 Banjos.

Just here...not on Facebook or anywhere else on the internets. Family and close friends know and that is all for now, well that is all until the little one is born really. So, y'all are part of an exclusive group.
